THE NUMBER ONE NAME

Psalm 29:2

"Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness." ESV

To ascribe is to acknowledge the source or owner of something. God's name is the source of all that is love, wisdom, and power. We are to honor His name as such in our worship and in our daily walk. Our worship is not dependent on our display of worship that others see. Our worship is counted as holy when our hearts are clean and humble.

Lord, You are the source of all things good and holy. May we bring honor to Your name at all times. And, help us to always come to You with clean and humble hearts. In Your magnificent name we pray, Amen.

OH WHAT WE WILL BE

Colossians 3:4

"When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory." ESV

As Christians, the Lord Jesus Christ encompasses our whole life. By faith, we walk this earth knowing our eternal reward. When Christ returns, we will be complete in His fullness both in our spirits and bodies. We will be like Him.

Lord, what comfort it is to know that here on earth we are with You and that we will be with You totally and completely when You come back to bring us home. Help us to remember this when things get difficult for us here. In Your wonderful name we pray, Amen.

HAVING IT ALL

Philippians 4:19

"And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." ESV

If we continue to walk in the Spirit of the Lord through faith, we will never be hungry because we have the Bread of Life. We will always be well dressed because we wear His Righteousness. We will always have shelter because we live in the shelter of the Most High God. There will be no need left wanting.

Lord, we humbly come before You with grateful hearts because You have provided the way to meet every one of our needs. Forgive us for grumbling and complaining because we are discontent. Fill our hearts with gratitude and praise. In Your name, Amen.

WHO TURNED OUT THE LIGHT?

2 Corinthians 4:4

"In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God." ESV

Since Satan cannot keep the Light out of the world, He works overtime making sure the Light doesn't get into the hearts and minds of those who are unbelievers. Unbelievers allow the darkness to rule in their hearts because they are more comfortable with the life and they see the lie as more realistic and logical. Our commission as believers is to be light in this dark world and pray that the Holy Spirit will prepare the hearts and minds of those who are deceived by the lies of Satan, that they will believe and receive the Light of the Gospel.

Heavenly Father, we are aware of the work of Satan in this world. We know You are greater and the Truth of the Gospel is greater. Help us to be light in this dark world. Prepare the hearts and minds of those who are still prisoners of darkness, so they will see the truth and turn from the darkness to the Light. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

WISDOM AND CONTROL ARE BROTHERS

Proverbs 19:11

"Good sense makes one slow to anger, and it is his glory to overlook an offense." ESV

Good sense is applying knowledge in an insightful, true, and discerning way. Using good sense, wisdom, when we are being criticized or belittled by others causes us to endure with peace and confidence that is working out His plan. We can let many disturbing offenses roll off our backs. God is pleased with that.

Heavenly Father, so often we have failed to use right thinking, the wisdom, You have given us when we are in an angering situation. Forgive us, Lord. Help us to use wisdom and to just let offenses roll of our backs. We pray in the name of Jesus, Amen.

WE CAN DO THIS

1 Peter 1:6,7

"In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith--more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire--may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ." ESV

How can anyone be joyful when they are going through suffering, pain, and despair. We can do it. We know that trials and suffering will purify our faith and make us strong in the Lord. He will honor and reward us who remain faithful through the trials and suffering of this life. And He will welcome us with open arms. Knowing this gives us that deep joy of the Lord that this world cannot touch.

Heavenly Father, You know we are weak, but You know that we have the gift of faith to believe that we will suffer in this life, but You will reward us if we persevere and stand strong. Put within our hearts, the commitment to stand strong and endure because this life is temporary. We pray in Jesus' name, Amen.

HE IS ABLE, ARE WE WILLING

Jude 24

"Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy." ESV

Will we stumble in our Christian walk? We will. Will we fall to the ground or will we allow the Lord to hold us up? We do not become Godly robots when we are born again. Our brains and our own desires are not replaced with a Godly remote control, so that we just go along in the world with no care of what happens because God has the controller in His hands. God tells us repeatedly in His Word, if we obey, if we stand firm, if we put on the armor, if we endure, if we stir up our faith, we will win the crown of eternal life Jesus Christ paid for with His own blood. He gives the promise, we choose to accept it by faith. Faith without works is dead.

Heavenly Father, we do not take Your great and precious promise of eternal life half heartedly. Forgive us for being spiritually lazy and thinking that we can hold on to our own selfish ways. Put increasing hunger in our hearts to fight the good fight, understand we are in a spiritual battle, and need to respond to the call to stand strong and endure by faith in Christ. In His name we pray, Amen.

NOT WORTH CONSIDERING

Romans 8:18

"For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us." ESV

As Christians, we pray that the Lord makes us as pure wine poured out for His glory. The problem with us is that when He starts to squeeze the grapes, we begin to holler, cry, and ask Him why He is doing this to us. He told us we would have troubles in this world, but time is so fleeting, it will all be as nothing when we see Him.

Heavenly Father, please forgive us for our weak faith when we get into troubled situations. Help us to recognize that they are so very temporary and not even worth worrying about when we compare them to what You have in store for us. We pray in Jesus' name, Amen.

WE AIN'T SEEN NOTHIN' YET

Romans 8:18

"For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us." ESV

Suffering comes to all at one time or another. Some go through much more suffering than others. Some believe they are suffering horribly until they see others much worse off than themselves. Then there are some that suffer and live above the suffering so that others have no idea. Whatever the type or intensity of the suffering, it will fade away into nothing and be forgotten forever when we see the wonderful things God has for us who believe.

Heavenly Father, we confess that we complain and grumble when we are suffering in one way or another. Forgive us for focusing on the suffering, that will totally pass away, and help us to stay fixed on the glory You have waiting for us with You in heaven. We pray in Jesus' name, Amen.

SEE JESUS AND YOU'VE SEEN THE FATHER

Hebrews 1:3

"He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high." ESV

In early times, God spoke to His people through the prophets, men chosen and anointed to speak His truth. Jesus Christ was far superior to the prophets because He is the perfect representative of God the Father. Our God sent His Son to represent Himself so that we might know Him and become like Him. Jesus Christ successfully and completely accomplished the Father's plan to reconcile us to Himself. We have no excuse for failing to live as Jesus did. The more we know Christ and how He lived, the more we know the Father.

Heavenly Father, how we praise You for giving us the Model of how we are to live our lives here. We thank You for Jesus Christ, who is Your exact likeness. Help us to seek Him so that we will know You. In His name we pray, Amen.

CELEBRATE

Luke 2:13,14
"Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, 'Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.'" NIV

"And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men." KJV

Do we really get the significance of what took place in that humble stable? It was so significant that a great multitude of angels came celebrating, rejoicing and praising God. How much more should we celebrate, rejoice, and praise God. Jesus did not come to save the angels, He came to save us!

Heavenly Father, how we rejoice that Jesus Christ left His glory in heaven and came to earth so that we can be freed from the bonds of sin and live in freedom for eternity with You. Help us to understand the magnificence of this wonderful gift. Let us think about how the sky must have lit up in glorious brightness at the host of angels who celebrated His birth. We praise You and thank You for His birth. In His precious name we pray, Amen.

LIGHT TO SEE HIS GLORY

2 Corinthians 4:6

"For God, who said, 'Let light shine out of darkness,' made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ." NIV

"For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ." KJV

God spoke light into existence at the beginning of creation. That light continues on into eternity. He puts that same light into our hearts so that we can see the truth about Christ, who is the reflection of God's glory. The light He spoke into existence, He placed within us, so that we could see His Son, believe in Him, and have eternal life. What an awesome God.

Heavenly Father, we give You praise and glory for Your unfathomable light that goes forth through eternity and brings us the knowledge of our Lord. Help us to stay in the light so that we will continue to grow in Him and become more like Him. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

UNVEILED FACES

2 Corinthians 3:18

"And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit." NIV

"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord." KJV

When Moses came down from the mountain after being in the presence of the Holy God, he had to cover his face with a veil because the people could not stand to look at the glorious light that emanated from his face. Because Jesus' death tore down the curtain into the holy of Holies, we can look toward the glory of God just like looking in a mirror. His glory is reflected back to us and we become more and more like His image.

Heavenly Father, we stand in awe of Your grandeur and glory. How privileged we are that we can come to the throne of grace and behold the face of Christ. Open our eyes, our hearts, and our souls so that we can be changed into the image of Your Son. We pray in His name, Amen.
