POINTLESS QUIBBLING

 2 Timothy 2:23

"Don't have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels." ESV

It is pretty easy to lose sight of the main message of God's Word. We tend to get caught up in little side roads that become more important than they should. We begin to argue and debate about these things and most of the time we really have insufficient knowledge to debate them anyway. It's much better to stay focused on the main message, the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Heavenly Father, please help us to keep focused on what really matters, the Gospel message of Jesus Christ our Lord. In His name we pray, Amen.

WHO TURNED OUT THE LIGHT?

2 Corinthians 4:4

"In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God." ESV

Since Satan cannot keep the Light out of the world, He works overtime making sure the Light doesn't get into the hearts and minds of those who are unbelievers. Unbelievers allow the darkness to rule in their hearts because they are more comfortable with the life and they see the lie as more realistic and logical. Our commission as believers is to be light in this dark world and pray that the Holy Spirit will prepare the hearts and minds of those who are deceived by the lies of Satan, that they will believe and receive the Light of the Gospel.

Heavenly Father, we are aware of the work of Satan in this world. We know You are greater and the Truth of the Gospel is greater. Help us to be light in this dark world. Prepare the hearts and minds of those who are still prisoners of darkness, so they will see the truth and turn from the darkness to the Light. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

PIGS AND PEARLS

Matthew 7:6

"Do not give dogs what is holy, and do not throw your pearls before pigs, lest they trample them underfoot and turn to attack you." ESV

The sacred message of the Gospel spoken of throughout the Word of God, is precious and totally worthy of reverence and respect. It is our responsibility as Christians to handle this precious pearl of Christ with discernment and wisdom. Jesus told us to refrain from giving this message out to those who are so hardened in their hearts that they will ridicule and stomp on the blessed Truth. These people have willingly and permanently rejected God. They are reprobate.

Heavenly Father, we are humbled and we tremble at the responsibility You have given us to handle the Word of Truth rightly. It is hard for us to understand that there are those who have truly rejected You and You Word. Give us boldness and Holy Spirit led ability to speak the Gospel everywhere. We trust You will put a check in our hearts if we are in the presence of one who has already permanently rejected the Truth. We pray in Jesus' name, Amen.

A POWERFUL ATTRACTION

John 12:32

"And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself." ESV

Jesus told us what would happen as a result of Him being nailed to a cross, up high for all to see, then dying and rising from the dead. It would cause such a powerful message that it will draw everyone who hears it to a point of decision to believe in Him as Savior or to continue in sin.

Heavenly Father, how we praise You for allowing us to be told the Gospel and for Your mercy and grace as we believed in faith. We are thoughtless many times to remember that others have not been told the Gospel so that they would be brought to the decision to believe or not. With the help of the Holy Spirit, make us witnesses and ministers of the Gospel, so that all will hear and believe. We pray in Jesus' name, Amen.

LET'S KEEP WITH IT

Philippians 3:16

"Only let us hold true to what we have attained." ESV

Because we live in a world that is so full of sin and deceit, we can easily become entangled with smooth words and actions that seem right, but are contrary to what we have learned about Christ and the Gospel message. As born again believers in Jesus Christ, His Holiness, His death and resurrection, it is our responsibility to hold on securely to the maturity and truth we have already achieved so that it is not stolen from us. We have so much farther to go. This world and the evil one can get us off track at any point. We by no means want to go where that would take us.

Heavenly Father, we stand in need of the guidance and direction of the Holy Spirit so that we will hold fast to the Gospel message and not get off track with unimportant rules and doubts that get us confused. Keep us on the path, holding on securely to the Truth we know of Jesus Christ and Him crucified. In His name we pray, Amen.

NO WATERED DOWN GOSPEL

1 Thessalonians 2:4

"On the contrary, we speak as those approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel. We are not trying to please people but God, who tests our hearts." NIV

"But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts." KJV

If we are making a purchase, a large, important purchase, we don't want the salesperson to give us incomplete, biased, and faulty information about our selected item. In fact, it would be unfair to us if someone trusted by their company gave us only what we wanted to hear about our selection. More important than that, we are God's spokespersons to tell the good news to those who need it. He has given us the responsibility to tell it all and tell it with truth. Most people, even Christians, don't want to hear about commitment, giving up of self, and suffering for the gospel. They would rather listen to how many blessings are just waiting for us to collect and how chosen we are to partake in the good things of God. Fellow believers, that is watered down truth. The death of Christ is not a warm fuzzy story. The persecution experienced by Christians from the early church till now is not a pleasant thing to behold. Walking the narrow path is not always a mountain top experience. It is up to us to share the whole truth and in so doing we will be pleasing God, not men.

Heavenly Father, we are humbled by Your words that tell us we are trusted with the Gospel. Forgive us for trying to persuade others with a watered down rendition of the true Gospel message. Give us boldness to present the Gospel, the things of Your Kingdom, with boldness and completeness, not worrying if we are offending. The Holy Spirit will witness to the hearts of the hearers that the Truth is being told. We pray in the name of Jesus, Amen.

NOW HIRING

Matthew 9:37,38

"Then he said to his disciples, The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field." NIV

"Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest." KJV

As Christians, we all have at least one spiritual gift. We are to be putting it to work for the Lord's kingdom. Not only that, since the darkness of the world is so great, there are barely enough Christians who are willing to spend the energy to toil in the fields. How sad it is for Christians to be lazy and complacent. If we pray, God will speak to the hearts of His people to go out into the fields where the lost and dying live. He will provide the workers necessary to bring in all that will come. But we have to pray.

Heavenly Father, search our hearts to see if we are negligent to do work in Your fields. Stir our hearts for prayer to send Christian workers to shine the light of Christ on those who are perishing. We thank You for sending workers out so that sinners will be saved. We pray in Jesus' name, Amen.

POWER OF THE GOSPEL

Jesus told us that the result of His being lifted up, nailed to the cross,
dying, and rising to life would be a powerful Gospel message. It will draw everyone who hears it to a point of decision to believe in Him as Savior or to continue in sin.

Read John 12:32

"But, I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to myself."
(NIV)

"And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me." (KJV)

PAY CLOSE ATTENTION

The Gospel message and the Words that Christ gave us are of such
infinite importance to our eternal future and our walk through this
world. This should be foremost in our hearts and minds and of the
deepest concern to us. There are many, many things in this world
to distract us from this most important message. Consider the glory
and dignity of the One who has spoken these words and gave all for
us, and of the eternal importance of the message. Don't allow your
mind and heart to get side tracked.

Read Hebrews 2:1

"We must pay more careful attention, therefore, to what we have
heard, so that we do not drift away." (NIV)

"Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things
which we have heard, lest at any itme we should let them slip." (KJV)
