FREE FROM WORRY

We are to have such confidence in God that our minds are free from worry. Whatever need we may have, we lay it out before the Lord in prayer, with a thankful heart. If we do that, the peace we will experience is more than we can ever think or imagine.

Read Philippians 4:6,7

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

FEAR GOD

The body is insignificant when compared to the soul. Death of the body is separation from the world. Death of the soul is separation from God.

Read Matthew 10:28

"Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell."

OUR PLANS GOD'S PLAN

It seems we are good at making plans for our lives while forgetting to
commit those plans to the Lord. Like children whose parents watch over
and protect, God redirects our plans until they align with His purpose for
our lives. Sometimes He has to undertake drastic redirection!

Read Proverbs 16:9

"In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps."

GOD BREATHED

The Scriptures are God-breathed. It's the same breath that gave life to Adam and gave Holy Spirit life to Jesus' disciples. God's Word is alive and useful to communicate God's instruction, His conviction of sin, and restoration to a right relationship with Him. The purpose of the inspired Scriptures is to lead us toward being more like Him.

Read 2 Timothy 3:16,17

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

OVERCOME EVIL

To follow the unique Christian principle of showing love to those who injure and oppose us for our faith is to disarm them of their ungodly ways. In the process, they may be persuaded to abandon those evil ways, because love is greater than any existing force.

Read Romans 12:21

"Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good."

LIFE IS SHORT

We are to number our days to remember that we are but humans confined
to this world of time and space. Life is fleeting, a collection of days. If we pray
to stay aware of this fact, we will gain wisdom because we will increase our
reverence for God who will take us out of this place of time and space into
eternity.

Read Psalm 90:12

"Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom."

BRIDLE THE TONGUE

Being religious is acting out external religious behaviors. Those behaviors are totally worthless unless there is the internal, living Spirit of God that keeps us in control of our sinful nature. Our speech is the most difficult to control.

Read James 1:26

"If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless."

SOMETHING NEW

God spoke through the prophet that we should not think about the mighty
things He had done in the past because He is about to do something even
more spectacular. He changed the sea into dry land and He will make dry
land into streams. God did it then, and He is doing this in our day. He is
doing it in your life and mine.

Read Isaiah 43:18,19

"Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new
thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert
and streams in the wasteland."

GENEROSITY

Our God honors generosity by giving us an increase according to our giving and by His great love for generosity from a cheerful heart.

Read 2 Corinthians 9:6

"Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and
whoever sows generously will also reap generously.

HE IS GREATER

Because God is in us, we have the power to overcome every spirit that is against Christ. Our God is greater than any force in the universe.

Read 1 John 4:4

"You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world."

SHARING WITH CHRIST

A part of sharing in Christ's glory for eternity is sharing now in the sufferings He
endured when He walked on this earth. The good news is, sharing His glory is so
great, that our sufferings in this life are insignificant in comparison. Remember,
these words were written at a time when early Christians were enduring
severe persecution.

Read Romans 8:18

"I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that
will be revealed in us."

TOTAL LOVE

To love God is the ultimate privilege available to every man and women. He is not content nor does He deserve only nonchalant, part-time, or half hearted love. He commands us to love Him with a love that involves the total person -- our emotions, our eternal spirit, and our physical actions and energies. Our God is the one true God. We are to love Him with our total being.

Read Deuteronomy 6:5

"Love the Lord you God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength."

PURIFY

God promises that He will accept us, be our Father, and treat us as His
children. The apostle Paul tells us we should respond to God's promises
by making a committed effort to get rid of the selfish desires, behaviors,
and attitudes that stand in the way of total obedience to Him. It is a life
long process out of respectful awe to God, who will help us complete it.

Read 2 Corinthians 7:1

"Since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from
everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of
reverence for God."

WITH OR WITHOUT FAITH

Human faith only goes as far as the human mind can understand. When we realize the limitations of our own faith, we are free to accept the free gift of faith from God. This faith will allow us to come to Him, seriously seek Him, and thereby find Him. The reward in that is from Him and is to make us more like Him.

Read Hebrews 11:6

"And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him."

WHAT IS FAITH?

Faith is the proof that the unseen workings of God are real. It confirms
to the eyes of the soul what the eyes of the body cannot see.

Read Hebrews 11:1

"Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see."

YOUR TROUBLES HIS TROUBLES

If we are suffering from troubles and problems because of our own choices (doing things our own way), we have no one to blame but ourselves. When we suffer because of our faithful service to the Lord, He is there to share in the victory He won for us at the cross.

Read John 16:33

"I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."

YOU WILL PROSPER

God is all knowing. He fully knows the plan for your life and my life. Too
many times we feel like He intends to do us harm or doesn't care, because
bad things happen. But His plan is to prosper us and cause our lives to be
full and rich in Him.

Read Jeremiah 29:11

"'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper
you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'"

AWAKE, ALERT, AND READY

Jesus warns us that He is coming quickly and unexpectedly. We are to be
awake, aware, and ready so we will not get caught shamefully unprepared.

clothes with him, so that he may not go naked and be shamefully exposed."

LOST AND FOUND

Whatever you sacrifice, give up, or hand over to God, you will find it
in Him. The more you invest in Him, the more you will find. The more
you hold on to in this world, the more you will lose.

sake will find it."

The Word of God is like a flashlight or torch for us in a dark dark place.
This keeps us from stumbling, falling, or wandering from the path to
eternal life. Is the Word of God lighting your way? If it is, keep reading!
If not, start reading!

DEAD TO WORLD ALIVE TO HIM

To be crucified with Christ is to be unaffected or influenced by worldly things and instead, have the desire to be like Him. Even though we still live in this world, our life and energy come from Christ. By faith, our confidence is in Him, who gave His all for us.

Read Galatians 2:20

" I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me."

COURAGE

Don't let the knowledge and awareness of your own weaknesses discourage you.
If God asks you to do something, will He not give you the strength, courage, and
everything else you need to get it done? God will always be with His faithful ones.

Read Joshua 1:9

"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do
not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."

TEMPTATION

Watch that you don't become overly confident in your ability to rise above
temptation. We are never above the reach of temptation and the possibility
of a fall. It is human nature to be faced with temptation and to look for ways
to justify our giving in to it. All of us are tempted in one way or another. The
Lord will never allow us to get to a place in the face of temptation that we
have no choice but to sin. There is no excuse like, "I couldn't help it" "That's
just the way I am." He always provides a way out.

Read 1 Corinthians 10:12,13

"So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don't fall! No
temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is
faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But
when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can
stand up under it."

HE WAS HERE!

The Maker of the universe and everything in it was here on this earth, as a man,
showing us the way to eternal life. The world did not recognize nor acknowledge
Him as such. In fact, He was despised, ridiculed, and murdered.

Read John 1:10

"He was in the world, and though the world was made through Him, the world
did not recognize Him."

LOOKING FORWARD

If we are seriously looking forward to the reality of Christ's return and the
hope it brings, we will be making a conscious effort to live clean, shameless,
and peaceful lives when He comes for us.

Read 2 Peter 3:13,14

"But in keeping with His promise we are looking forward to a new heaven
and a new earth, the home of righteousness. So then, dear friends, since
you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless,
blameless and at peace with Him."

A WAY THAT SEEMS RIGHT

When we insist on living and believing in our own way, we are putting ourselves
in grave danger. Our own way feels right because it keeps us in a comfortable
place where there is no sacrificing and self-examination. What a great deception!
To be right in God's eyes, we will be struggling with our human nature.

Read Proverbs 16:25

"There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death."

KNOWING EQUALS OBEYING

Do you really know the Saviour? Check your level of obedience to His commands. That will let you know if you really know Him. To say you know Him, and to not be obedient to His word, is to be deceitful and attempting to deceive others. If you know Him, you will imitate the life and walk of Jesus.

Read 1 John 2:3-6

"We know that we have come to know him if we obey his commands. The man who says, 'I know him,; but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But if anyone obeys his word, God's love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in him: Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did."

FAITH WITHOUT WORKS

FAITH WITHOUT WORKS IS DEAD

True faith in the Lord always brings change in our outward life. Faith is more than a
mental belief, it is a trust that causes us to respond. If we claim to have faith but
ignore the needs of others around us, then our faith is powerless and worthless.
True faith produces fruit, and will find a way to express itself in our daily living. Faith
transforms. Transformation show up in our lifestyle. Is your faith showing?

Read James 2:14-17

"What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can
such faith save him? Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food.
If one of you says to him, 'Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed,' but does
nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself,
if it is not accompanied by action, is dead."

GUARD AGAINST DECEPTION

Are you doing whatever is necessary to make sure you are not swayed by
good sounding beliefs and logic from those who can distort the truth and
lead you cunningly away from the important work of the Lord? Those who would deceive you will take you from your place of faith and hope and take you to a place they want you to be. That place is farther from the Lord, who is the truth. See to it that this doesn't happen to you.

Read Colossians 2:8

"See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive
philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles
of this world rather than on Christ."

THE EYES OF GOD

Our God intimately knows our every thought, desire, and the content of our souls.
How seriously should we attempt to be holy and pure leaving nothing in our soul
that we do not want known. We can hide many things from others people, but we
can hide nothing from God.

Read Hebrews 4:13

"Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and
laid bare before the yes of him to whom we must give account."
