LOOKING FORWARD

2 Peter 3:13

"But in keeping with his promise we are looking
forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home
of righteousness." (NIV)


"Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for
new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth
righteousness." (KJV)


We sometimes get caught up in the things that go wrong
here around us. We have been told we will have trouble
in this life and that we are strangers and aliens here on
earth. How can we question what God is doing when we
know these things? If we keep looking ahead to the
promise of a righteous dwelling place, we will find
strength and comfort to get through this world.


Heavenly Father, forgive us when we take our eyes off
of the promise you have set for us from the foundation of
the world. Forgive us when we forget that we are confined
here on this cursed earth for the time you have set for us.
Forgive us for questioning you when things are not going
well for us here. Help us to keep the fire of our faith
burning, we ask in Jesus' name, Amen.
