FITNESS ULTIMATE

1 Timothy 4:8

"For while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come." ESV

To be concerned about one's physical health is beneficial for living here in this life. To be concerned about one's spiritual life is beneficial for this life and crucial for eternal life. Take care of the body, God's temple, but our spiritual life is the number one priority in our lives with God.

Heavenly Father, we confess that we have not done our best to take care of our physical bodies, much less our spiritual lives. Forgive us for such neglect. Give us hunger for healthy spiritual lives which will result in our taking care of our physical bodies. We pray in Jesus' name, Amen.

WHO'S THE PHONY?

Isaiah 29:13

"And the Lord said: Because this people draw near with their mouth and honor me with their lips, while their hearts are far from me, and their fear of me is a commandment taught by men." ESV

The Lord is well acquainted with our hearts. He notices when anyone goes through the motions, gathers with believers, and speaks praises, but there is an absence of worship from the heart and a true righteous hunger for the things of God. Some even fail to realize they are engaging in empty worship. The great deception lies in the belief that tradition, outward actions, and church rules equal true worship. Some have simply become lazy and complacent, letting their spirits grow cold.

Heavenly Father, we have been guilty of insincere worship and humbly ask You for forgiveness. Give us that first love, that hunger and zeal to seek You and worship You with a true and contrite heart. We pray in Jesus' name, Amen.

WALKING PARTNERS

Proverbs 13:20

"Whoever walks with the wise, becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm." ESV

To walk with someone is so much more than an occasional stroll. It is to spend time with, be attached to, and take on the ways of those with whom we walk. We become like them. As Christians, we are around people of all kinds, but we watchfully and carefully choose with whom we walk.

Heavenly Father, we stand in need of discernment so that we will walk with those who will bring us closer to you, and to still be able to witness and to be living testimonies to those who may not be good for us be like. We pray in Jesus' name, Amen.

SEVEN TIMES ONE

Ephesians 4:4-6

"There is one body and one Spirit--just as you were called to one hope that belongs to your call--one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all." ESV

There is only one Church, the body of Christ. While there are thousands of churches, denominations, independent groups, etc., not one of these alone is the Church. The Church consists of those who are drawn by the Holy Spirit, have repented of their sin, and have accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord. The Church is made up of people from every walk of life, denomination or independent group of believers. Isn't it a blessing that we don't have to seek out the "right" church, when the one Church is only a prayer away?

Heavenly Father, please forgive us for getting so focused on our own denomination and traditional beliefs that we lose sight of what the Church, the Bride of Christ really is. Open our eyes to the reality of the Body of Christ and what that means for each of us as we live each day. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

WANT TO KNOW A SECRET?

Psalm 25:14

"The friendship of the Lord is for those who fear Him, and He makes known to them His covenant." ESV

The ways of God have always been clouded with mystery. Many have tried to unlock secrets of the Almighty through research, study, and techniques of the spirit world. The Word of God plainly tells us that God reveals secrets of His plan and mysteries of His ways to those who reverence and worship Him from a pure heart.

Heavenly Father, we acknowledge that You are Omniscient, knowing all things. Give us Your grace to understand that some mysteries are not for our knowing. But, we know You are faithful to reveal Your secrets to Your children who have hearts with reverence and purity to receive them. For this we give You praise. In Jesus' name, Amen.

HAPPY AT THE BOTTOM OF THE TOTEM POLE

John 13:17

"If you know these things, blessed are you if  you do them." ESV

Jesus Christ spoke these words after having washed the feet of His disciples. Once we realize the significance of what He did that day, we will know that we are all on an equal footing with everyone else in the eyes of God Almighty. In fact, it is pleasing to Him and Christ-like for us to see others as more important than ourselves.

Heavenly Father, oh how short we fall of seeing ourselves as we truly are. We fail at accepting that we are not better, but equal to all other people. How much more do we fail at following Christ's example of considering others as more important. Forgive us and fill us with Your Holy Spirit that we will see ourselves from Your eyes and accept the gift of humility toward all of Your children. We pray in Jesus' name, Amen.

RECIPE FOR FREEDOM AND PEACE OF MIND

Job 42:10

"And the Lord restored the fortunes of Job, when he prayed for his friends. And the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before." ESV

Someone in our lives has wronged us, hurt us, betrayed us, caused us grief. Our human nature responds with resentment and anger. The truth is, if we are merciful to those who have wronged us, and we pray for them, the Lord will show us mercy and release us from the chains of resentment and anger. His Word says He will show us mercy in the same way we show mercy to others.

Heavenly Father, forgive us for allowing our natural emotions to fill our hearts with resentment and anger when we are wronged by others. Help us to open our hearts to Your Holy Spirit who will give us the desire to pray for them, show mercy to them, and free us from the cage of resentment, anger, and the desire to get even. We pray in the name of Jesus, Amen.

DIVINE HASMAT INSURANCE

Hebrews 13:6

"So we can confidently say, 'the Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?'"

The Lord has told us He would never leave nor forsake us. Our faith in His words gives us full confidence in His being all powerful. No matter what people do to us, no matter what the plans and behaviors of others do to us, God's strength is far more powerful. Though it seems the Lord does not see or care, trust Him!. He is working and He will take care of us. The strength of men is limited and they cannot overpower our God.

Heavenly Father, forgive us when we lose faith and feel that You have forgotten us. Help us to use the faith You have given us to rise up with confidence that You are always alongside us, taking care of us, and crushing the harm others are trying to inflict on us. We pray in Jesus' name, Amen.

CLEAN FEET FOR EVERYBODY

John 13:14

"If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet." ESV

When Jesus took of His cloak, got down on the floor, and washed the feet of His disciples, He was setting an example for us. He was not teaching us how to wash feet, but how to treat one another in love and humility, no matter what position we hold in this life. No one is great and mighty, except the Lord God Himself. We are all one in Him, on equal ground, and we are to humbly serve one another.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for plainly showing us how we are to live and serve others. Forgive us for failing to do this so many times. Remove the scales from our eyes and hearts so that we will humbly serve one another as Jesus Christ taught us by His example. In His precious name we pray, Amen.

ALL GROWN UP TOGETHER

Ephesians 4:13

"Until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ." ESV

When we become Christians all together unified in our faith in the truth of Christ, we will be one with Him and He with us. The world will no longer be able to accuse us of hypocrisy or being fairy tale believers needing a crutch. The world will look at the Church, the unified believers in Jesus Christ, and stand in awe at the power of the Almighty God.

Heavenly Father, how short we fall of being unified as believers. Forgive us for insisting on our own traditions and perspectives and help us to get down to the real Truth of Jesus Christ and Him crucified. Help us all to cling in unity to this one Truth that will astonish the world and show them that You are the One and Only God. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

NO DISAPPOINTMENT HERE

Psalm 43:3

"Send out your light and your truth; let them lead me; let them bring me to your holy hill and to your dwelling!" ESV

As Christians, our prayer is that the Lord will light the path of truth so that we can follow it, no matter how difficult so that we can be with Him. This path is rough, narrow, and lonely. But those who follow it will never be disappointed.

Heavenly Father, forgive us when we see the path, but our selfish nature goes another way. Give us overcoming desire to follow the path on which You have graciously shed Your light. We pray in the name of Jesus, Amen.

WHATEVER

Colossians 3:17

"And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." ESV

Remember, everything we say, think, and do is doing it directly to the Lord. Knowing this, we strive to honor Him in all ways. And, we are thankful to Him for giving us the grace and strength to be able to honor Him this way.

Heavenly Father, guard our hearts and minds so that all we think, say, and do brings glory to Your name. We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

THAT'S WHAT HAPPENS IF WE OVERCOME?

Revelation 3:5

"The one who conquers will be clothed thus in white garments, and I will never blot his name out of the book of life. I will confess his name before my Father and before his angels." ESV

To overcome is to overpower and defeat the enemy. If we endure the struggle with God's help and overcome the inferior power of Satan, we have the promise and reward of eternity in the presence of our Lord and His angels.

Heavenly Father, we know we can only be overcomers with Your grace and power. Help us to always look to You and seek to be filled with the Power of Your Holy Spirit so that we will be overcomers in Your Kingdom. We pray in Jesus' name, Amen.

ONE

2 Samuel 7:22

Therefore, you are great, O Lord God. For there is none like you, and there is no God besides you, according to all that we have heard with our ears." ESV

How do we live in a world where too many people believe there is more than one way to eternal life. We hear from those that all the roads lead to the same God. This is one of Satan's greatest deceptions. There is only one Way, Jesus Christ. All other religions worship god(s) and have a major prophet. The difference is, none of their major prophets died and came alive again, showing themselves to many people, and then ascending to the Father. The other religions have to go to the tomb of their prophet and worship decayed bones. Our God is the true and living God who gave us His Son to die that we could live forever.

Heavenly Father, how we praise You for being the one true God, Creator of all things, and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Fill us with the power of Your Holy Spirit that we will be able to testify that You are the One and Only God. We pray in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ, Amen.

WHAT LAWS?

Romans 3:20

"For by works of the law no human being will be justified in his sight, since through the law comes knowledge of sin." ESV

Laws were created to give us boundaries so that we would stay within the limits of doing right. The problem is, laws do not give us the ability or even the desire to stay within the boundaries. Actually, the law just shows us that we do not have the ability to stay within the boundaries of what is right. We can only be made right(eous) by the sacrifice Christ made. Faith in Him gives us the desire and ability to stay right, even when there are no boundaries.

Heavenly Father, forgive us for thinking we can follow rules on our own and then find ourselves outside Your will. Help us to draw closer to you so that the law of the Spirit will keep us where we need to be. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

HE IS ABLE, ARE WE WILLING

Jude 24

"Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy." ESV

Will we stumble in our Christian walk? We will. Will we fall to the ground or will we allow the Lord to hold us up? We do not become Godly robots when we are born again. Our brains and our own desires are not replaced with a Godly remote control, so that we just go along in the world with no care of what happens because God has the controller in His hands. God tells us repeatedly in His Word, if we obey, if we stand firm, if we put on the armor, if we endure, if we stir up our faith, we will win the crown of eternal life Jesus Christ paid for with His own blood. He gives the promise, we choose to accept it by faith. Faith without works is dead.

Heavenly Father, we do not take Your great and precious promise of eternal life half heartedly. Forgive us for being spiritually lazy and thinking that we can hold on to our own selfish ways. Put increasing hunger in our hearts to fight the good fight, understand we are in a spiritual battle, and need to respond to the call to stand strong and endure by faith in Christ. In His name we pray, Amen.

PROTECTION OUR SECURITY

1 Corinthians 1:8

"(our God), who will sustain you to the end, guiltless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ." ESV

What a comforting fact. He will give us all that we need to come into His presence with clean hearts. With God, there is always that one requirement that is repeated over and over in His Word. If we endure, faint not, don't give up, keep running the race, stand strong, overcome, endure, stay alert, do not be deceived, and keep, stir up, and guard our faith.

Heavenly Father, what an awesome God You are to give this eternal security to the likes of us. Help us to remember that our part is to keep the faith and endure in a world that keeps battering our faith and to stand strong against the enemy who seeks to devour our souls. We pray in Jesus' name, Amen.

REJOICE REJOICE REJOICE

Philippians 4:4

"Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice." ESV

To rejoice is to celebrate, enjoy, take pleasure, and be full of joy. If we are rejoicing that we belong to the Lord, we are fully equipped to overcome the difficult things of this world.

Heavenly Father, how we thank You for Your great gift of joy. Forgive us for letting the things of this world rob us of our joy. Help us to remember that rejoicing in Your majesty and greatness are all we need to overcome the difficulties in this world. We pray in Jesus' name, Amen.

TWO KINDS OF BEING SORRY

2 Corinthians 7:10

"For Godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas worldly grief produces death." ESV

There are two kinds of remorse for being caught in a wrongdoing. Godly remorse is based on knowledge and acceptance that God has been offended by our actions and we are ashamed that we have dishonored Him. We will turn from that sin and walk in the right way. Worldly remorse is based on awareness that we have been caught and are embarrassed  that others know we have done wrong. We will continue to do wrong when we think we can get by with it. This type of remorse puts us in danger of eternal separation from God.

Heavenly Father, how we ask for Your grace to have true remorse when we sin. Keep our hearts clean and our spirits open to think before we act so that we will not have to be remorseful. But when we do sin, keep our hearts humble to remember that our sin has offended You. We pray in Jesus' name, Amen.

WHO MAKES ALL MY DECISIONS?

Matthew 16:24

"Then Jesus told his disciples, 'If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.'" ESV

How would we feel if we could not do any of the things we want to do, think the thoughts we want to think, say the things we want to say, or go to places we want to go? How would we feel letting someone else decide all these things for us. If we follow Christ, this is exactly how it will be. It is a difficult, narrow path. Very few are willing to do it. But those who do quickly find a life of peace, joy, and freedom that is far greater than any life they could make for themselves.

Heavenly Father, we thank You and praise You for the gift of eternal life. We give You the glory for rewarding our faith to trust in You to have control of our lives and lavishing us with Your peace and joy. Help us to show this great gift to everyone we meet. In Jesus name, Amen.

IT'S GOOD TO BE JUDGED

1 Corinthians 11:32

"But when we are judged by the Lord, we are disciplined so that we may not be condemned along with the world." ESV

If we remain spiritually open to God's judgment of our thoughts, feelings, and actions, He will let us see if there is anything contrary to Him and His Word. How do we get spiritually open to God? By reading and meditating on His Word. This is the way we get to know Him and what He has instructed us to do. This will allow us the opportunity to change and get our lives in harmony with Him.

Heavenly Father, we are humbled by our confession that we aren't even aware that we are not spiritually open to You. Fill us with a burning desire for Your Word so that we can have our spiritual eyes open to see the things we need to change in our lives. Then we ask for the grace to make those changes and be more like Christ. In His name we pray, Amen.

A POWERFUL ATTRACTION

John 12:32

"And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself." ESV

Jesus told us what would happen as a result of Him being nailed to a cross, up high for all to see, then dying and rising from the dead. It would cause such a powerful message that it will draw everyone who hears it to a point of decision to believe in Him as Savior or to continue in sin.

Heavenly Father, how we praise You for allowing us to be told the Gospel and for Your mercy and grace as we believed in faith. We are thoughtless many times to remember that others have not been told the Gospel so that they would be brought to the decision to believe or not. With the help of the Holy Spirit, make us witnesses and ministers of the Gospel, so that all will hear and believe. We pray in Jesus' name, Amen.
