BEING MATURE AND EXPERIENCED

Hebrews 5:14

"But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil." ESV

By frequent exposure to the Word of God and daily experiencing communion with Christ and other Christians, we become experienced, mature Christians. It is then we are able to comprehend the deep things of God and understand many of the mysteries kept hidden from babes in Christ. We are strongly encouraged to keep ourselves in tune constantly with the Word, the Spirit, and the fellowship of other believers. If we are mature and experienced, we will not only be able to discern the deep things of God's truth, but we will be able to teach and be examples to those who are less experienced or new in Christ. This is not an option for us as Christians to stay satisfied with the basics and never grow. It is our reasonable sacrifice of worship to grow and become mature in Christ.

Heavenly Father, O how we need Your grace to give us hunger for Your Word and the deep things of Your kingdom. Forgive us for being satisfied with the basics that keep us from growing and being capable of casting down falsehoods and attacks of the enemy. Help us to be sincere in growing as Christians and being able to help bring others along in their walk. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

GOD SUPPLIES FOR OUR GROWTH

God is the supplier of seeds to plant and He brings forth a crop.
From the crop, our needs are abundantly supplied and have
enough to share and provide to others who need it. In the same
way, God supplies us with blessings. We accept His blessings
and use what we need to grow more in Him. We give out of this
abundance of His blessings to others so they can do the same.
The more we give, the more He supplies to us.

Heavenly Father, help us to receive your blessings with a pure
heart and to give freely to others. We desire to be a part of
multiplying your love and grace. In Jesus' name.

Read 2 Corinthians 9:10

"Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will
also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the
harvest of your righteousness." (NIV)

"Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for
your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of
your righteousness." (KJV)

WE'RE IN GOOD HANDS

In this day and age we often feel we are in a barren and dry place. Trouble
and uncertainty are all around us and we can get quite overwhelmed. Take
heart! God is right beside us, guiding us, and giving us everything we need
to make it through.

Read Isaiah 58:11

"The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun
scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well
watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail." (NIV)

"And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in
drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered
garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not." (KJV)

FOOD AND WORK

Food is a life sustaining necessity. The problem is, food does not magically appear in our hands so we can eat. Someone has to hunt the food, grow the food, harvest the food, and prepare the food. We are commanded to be a part of the process that makes food available by exerting effort. Work is
therefore necessary to sustain life. This is even more critical for the spiritual life.

Read 2 Thessalonians 3:10

"For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: 'If a man will not work, he shall not eat.'" (NIV)

"For even when we were with you, this we commanded you,
that if any would not work, neither should he eat." (KJV)
