BEING MATURE AND EXPERIENCED

Hebrews 5:14

"But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil." ESV

By frequent exposure to the Word of God and daily experiencing communion with Christ and other Christians, we become experienced, mature Christians. It is then we are able to comprehend the deep things of God and understand many of the mysteries kept hidden from babes in Christ. We are strongly encouraged to keep ourselves in tune constantly with the Word, the Spirit, and the fellowship of other believers. If we are mature and experienced, we will not only be able to discern the deep things of God's truth, but we will be able to teach and be examples to those who are less experienced or new in Christ. This is not an option for us as Christians to stay satisfied with the basics and never grow. It is our reasonable sacrifice of worship to grow and become mature in Christ.

Heavenly Father, O how we need Your grace to give us hunger for Your Word and the deep things of Your kingdom. Forgive us for being satisfied with the basics that keep us from growing and being capable of casting down falsehoods and attacks of the enemy. Help us to be sincere in growing as Christians and being able to help bring others along in their walk. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

WHO'S READY FOR MEAT?

Hebrews 5:14

"But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil." NIV

"But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil." KJV

The natural order of growth for human development is to steadily gain in height and weight while at the same time learning different things. It takes food that is appropriate for age and advancement of the child. The same hold true for the born again children of God. Many Christians accept the Lord Jesus as their Saviour but they fail to get into the Word of God and make it a part of their everyday lives and they fail to faithfully commune with Him on a daily basis. They are not able to spiritually chew and digest the deep things of God, only the milk and elementary things of God. The answer is to take responsibility for working out our salvation, for hiding the Word in our heart, and growing up in Him.

Heavenly Father, we stand in need of Your grace and mercy as we work out our salvation in the way You intended. Help us to receiveYour Word and by it grow into mature Christians. Show us the way and give us the desire to grow and surrender so that we will be ready for spiritual meat, the deep things of Your kingdom. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

HOW TO HONOR GOD

1 Corinthians 6:20

"You were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies."NIV

"For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's."KJV

Do we really understand how strong our own self wills are? Can we say that those around us can tell we belong to Christ just by the way we conduct ourselves? When we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour, we no longer belong to ourselves. We belong to Him. Our bodies belong to Him, therefore, taking the utmost care of our bodies is honoring and worshipping our Lord. So it is with the way we live, speak, and approach life. Our spirit is a reflection of whoever it is we serve.

Heavenly Father, the ways of this world have such a strong pull on us and we often fall into its' practices along with those who do not belong to You. Forgive us, Lord. Keep us mindfully aware that we no longer belong to ourselves, but to You. May we reflect and honor Christ in all we say, think, and do. In Jesus' name, Amen.

PERSEVERENCE

Trials and tribulations test and strengthen our faith. The measure of our faith determines how much patience we have, how much we can persevere. If we are able to persevere through all trials and tribulations, we will be mature and complete in Christ.

Heavenly Father, how thankful we are that you give each of us
a measure of faith. We pray you will help of persevere through
the trials and tribulations we face in this world so that we may
be complete in Christ. In Jesus' name.

Read James 1:4

"Perseverance must finish it's work so that you may be mature
and complete, not lacking anything." (NIV)

"But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect
and entire, wanting nothing." (KJV)

SECURITY

How can we be sure that we are secure in our calling and election as
children of God? If we are eagerly growing spiritually and make this our
first priority, we are most likely to stay in the Way and to not stumble.

Heavenly Father, give us eagerness to grow and mature as Christians; in
Jesus name.

Read 2 Peter 1:10

"Therefore, my brothers, be all the more eager to make your calling and
election sure. For if you do these things, you will never fall." (NIV)

"Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and
election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall." (KJV)
