THE DEVIL MADE ME DO IT!

 

1 Corinthians 10:13

 

"No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it." ESV 

 

None of us are exempt from temptation. The good new is, we will never be in a situation of temptation where we have no alternative but to give in to the sin. God has guaranteed 100%, a way out so we are not forced to sin. Of course, we still have the choice to go ahead and let the temptation overtake us. If that happens, we are totally responsible for our decision. Sin is a human choice. Resisting sin is a human choice provided by our God in every temptation.

 

Heavenly Father, we are so aware of the subtlety of sin and how easy it is to fall into its' trap. We ask that You help us to stay alert and stand firm so that we will choose to take the way out You always provide for us. In Jesus' name, Amen.

HOW GREAT?

 

 

2 Samuel 22:36,37

 

"You have given me the shield of your salvation, and your gentleness made me great. You gave a wide place for my steps under me, and my feet did not slip." ESV 

 

Do we really understand all that is ours because of Jesus Christ? Because He conquered death, hell, and the grave, we have freedom to access the shield of faith that insures victory. Do we realize the vastness of His grace? We can journey all of our lives, and He will keep us from falling. Do we realize what a mighty God we serve?

 

Heavenly Father, how blessed and honored we are to serve You, our God who loves us so much that You gave all and You keep giving. Forgive us for our complacency. Give us the hunger to know just how great and powerful You are and the precious gifts You make available for our asking. We pray in the name of Jesus, Amen.

THERE'S ALWAYS A WAY OUT

 

1 Corinthians 10:13

Temptation is universal. It comes to every human being. Giving in or not giving in to the temptation is always a choice. God says He will never allow us to be tempted to the point that we can do nothing but sin. There will always be an option to get through the temptation without sinning. It is our choice and we will be held accountable for the choices we make when temptation comes.

 

Heavenly Father, we admit that we have made excuses for giving in to temptations large and small. There are no excuses. Let our hearts be filled with Your Word so that we will be able to make the choice that allows us to escape the temptation. In Jesus' name, Amen.

OUR PROVIDER

 

 

Psalm 23:5

"You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows." ESV

The Lord is faithful to abundantly provide our needs openly before all to see. This is a testimony of His love and grace for unbelievers to know how loving our God is. Our enemies cannot stop God's provision for His children nor can they deny it. It is proof of God's favor toward those who belong to him.

Heavenly Father, how privileged we are that You would bless us in front of unbelievers. Forgive us for becoming prideful of that. Help us to understand that in blessing us, You are drawing unbelievers to Yourself. Give us hearts of humility and gratefulness so that we will be a testimony to those You are reaching. In Christ's name we pray, Amen.

IT WAS NOT ME

Deuteronomy 8:17,18     "You may say to yourself, "My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me." But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your forefathers, as it is today." NIV   "And thou say in thine heart, My power and the might of mine hand hath gotten me this wealth. But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day." KJV   Self satisfaction and pride in our abilities and accomplishments are an open door to rob and dethrone God of the honor He deserves. After we have worked hard, gotten ahead financially, and feel more secure financially, of course we have a human tendency to feel we have achieved this through our hard work and perseverance. When we admire our selves for these accomplishments, we create an idol in God's place. Remember, all we are and all we have is from Him. And He will hold us accountable for how we use these blessings.   Heavenly Father, how we thank You and praise You for Your abundant blessings to us. Forgive us if we have taken any credit for these blessings and forgive us if we use them for our own pleasure. Give us open hearts to hear Your voice as to how You want us to use these blessings. Thank You for allowing us to enjoy them but also to bless others with them and glorify You as King of Kings. JUST

What does it mean to be a "just" person? It is someone who is guided by
Truth, justice, and fairness. An honest and pure intentioned heart. The
Lord always and ever favors and protects those who are just because they
have His heart.

Read Psalm 37:28

For the LORD loves the just and will not forsake his faithful ones.
They will be protected forever (NIV)

"For the LORD loveth judgment, and forsaketh not his saints; they
are preserved for ever." (KJV)

WEALTH: ETERNAL OR TEMPORARY

Those who are blessed with finances and the finer things of this
world should pay attention to where they place their trust. It is an
easy thing to rely on financial and material security. However, the
only sure and lasting security comes from God and He supplies it in
abundance and pleasure.

Read 1 Itmothy 6:17

"Command those who are rich in this present world not to be
arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain,
but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with every
thing for our enjoyment." (NIV)

"Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded,
nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly
all things to enjoy" (KJV)

LORD OUR REFUGE

Seeking refuge in the Lord in troubled times is wise. This does not
mean we are running away from our problems and troubles. It means
we are in His hands where He can lift our spirit above our problems
and troubles so they do not overcome us. No one can tell us to run
from our enemies when we are in His hands.

Read Psalm 11:1

"In the Lord I take refuge. How then can you say to me: 'Flee like a
bird to your Mountain.'" (NIV)

"In the LORD put I my trust: how say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird
to your mountain?" (KJV)
