THE DEVIL MADE ME DO IT!

1 Corinthians 10:13

"No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it." ESV

None of us are exempt from temptation. The good new is, we will never be in a situation of temptation where we have no alternative but to give in to the sin. God has guaranteed 100%, a way out so we are not forced to sin. Of course, we still have the choice to go ahead and let the temptation overtake us. If that happens, we are totally responsible for our decision. Sin is a human choice. Resisting sin is a human choice provided by our God in every temptation.

Heavenly Father, we are so aware of the subtlety of sin and how easy it is to fall into its' trap. We ask that You help us to stay alert and stand firm so that we will choose to take the way out You always provide for us. In Jesus' name, Amen.

DECISION MAKING 101

Jeremiah 6:16

"Thus says the Lord; 'Stand by the roads, and look, and ask for the ancient paths, where the good way is; and walk in it, and find rest for your souls.' But they said, 'We will not walk in it.'" ESV

There will be times when we come to crossroads or major decisions that will have far reaching impact on our lives and the lives of others. The Lord tell us look at the way the followers of God in the Bible made decisions. They got on their faces before God until they heard from Him, and by doing so, they have worn a proven path that leads to peace and rest for the soul. Jesus, Himself, took that road. So walk as He did.

Heavenly Father, so often we look at earthly consequences of decisions we have to make. We try to get the best deal for ourselves in the choices we make. Forgive us for our selfish ways. Help us to live like Christ and those who walked in His footsteps. We thank You for the peace and rest that will give us. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

John 3:19

"And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil." ESV

Jesus is the Light of the world. His life and His words light up the Truth for all to see and accept. Yet, there are those who refuse to come into the rays of His light because they don't want to acknowledge the darkness within themselves or having it exposed to others, or having to give it up. God does not send anyone to hell. People choose to go there because they prefer their own way, which is in darkness, and are deceived into thinking they are safe.

Heavenly Father, help us to remember that a person living in darkness does not see the Light unless we shine it on and around them. Give us the fullness of Your Holy Spirit to have wisdom and discernment as we shine Your light on those we encounter, so that they might be drawn by Your Spirit into the Light and turn their backs on the darkness forever. We pray in Jesus' name, Amen.

IT'S OUR CHOICE

Luke 20:18

"Everyone who fall on that stone will be broken to pieces, and when it falls on anyone, it will crush him." ESV

If we give ourselves over to the Lord, He will make us into new creatures from the broken pieces of our lives. But if we insist on being the masters of our own lives, His judgment will crush and destroy us. Remember, we have a choice to make: Fall at His feet and allow Him to rebuild us in His image. Or, keep control of our own lives, have His judgment fall on us, and be condemned for eternity. The choice is ours.

Heavenly Father, we give You praise for the free gift of salvation and the freedom to accept it. Help us to be living testimonies to those who need to make the choice to turn their lives over to you. We pray in the name of Jesus, Amen.

WHAT ARE WE DOING?

Haggai 1:7

"This is what the Lord Almighty says: 'Give careful thought to your ways.'"NIV

"Thus saith the Lord of hosts: Consider your ways."KJV

Our daily schedules are so busy we have organized our tasks by doing things by mindless routine. Unfortunately, it is easy to get into a mindless routine of daily Bible reading and prayer, if we have worked that into our day at all. When we are going along on auto pilot through our day, the enemy has a perfect playground in our minds and lives to set us up for temptation and sin. Take heed of what the Word tells us to do.

Heavenly Father, we ask for Your forgiveness for going through our day without giving thought to what we say or do, but live in mindless routines. We pray for mindfulness of all that we think, say, and do so that we will bring honor and glory to Your name. We pray in Jesus' name, Amen.

IT'S YOUR CHOICE

We all naturally seek after those things that satisfy the senses. We have
been created that way. However, we have been created with authority over our own wills. The Word of God tells us to choose good and stay away from evil. And wherever there is strife and turmoil, we are to constantly look for the peaceful solution and go after it.

Read Psalm 34:14

"Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it." (NIV)

"Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it." (KJV)
