GOD CAN DO ALL THINGS

Job 42:2

"I know that you can do all things; no plan of yours can be thwarted." NIV

"I know that thou canst do every thing, and that no thought can be withholden from thee." KJV

If we truly believe that nothing is impossible with God or that His will is always being accomplished, why, in times of trouble, do we question Him or think that He has turned away from us? It is because we do not see what He is doing. We are in an uncomfortable place and want it changed now. We thought we knew how this thing was going to work out but God has a different plan and we can't see it. True faith patiently waits in peaceful anticipation, no matter what place we are in, that God will complete His work and we will always be in the palm of His hand.

Heavenly Father, we ask your forgiveness for those times we have questioned your faithfulness and willingness to take care of us. Help us to use the measure of faith you have given to us so that we can wait in patience and hope for your help. We pray in Jesus' name. Amen

WITNESSES

Acts 1:9

"After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight." NIV

"And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight." KJV

What a great honor to have been among that group of followers who witnessed our Lord ascend from this world to His eternal home. Fellow believers, since we have been given the gift of the Holy Spirit, we can witness the great working and miracles our Lord does every day. How honored we are. And, who knows but that we will be eye witnesses to His return.

Heavenly Father, we praise you and thank you that you have honored us with spiritual eyes to witness your wondrous works every day. We ask that you will help us to keep our eyes open and be alert to your presence and your return. In Jesus' name, Amen

SOURCE OF LIFE

John 15:5

"I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing." NIV

"I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing." KJV

The vine keeps the whole plant rooted, stable, and nourished. It is the source of life for the branches and fruit. A branch severed from the vine cannot survive. God will never separate us from the True Vine, but we can choose to detach ourselves. If we do, we cannot survive spiritually. We are totally dependent on Jesus Christ for our very lives, our stability, and our spiritual food. If we cut ourselves off from Him, all we have left to thrive on are this cursed world and our own strength. Without Him, we are like dead, fallen branches.

Heavenly Father, we praise you and glorify your name because you have given us Jesus Christ, our True Vine. We are supplied with all we need to be alive and healthy spiritually. Help us to always stay true to the Vine so that we will have life and bear fruit for your kingdom. In Jesus' name, Amen.

OPEN YOUR EYES

John 4:35

"Do you not say, 'Four months more and then the harvest?' I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest." NIV

"Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? Behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest." KJV

How many of us are aware that we pass by opportunity after opportunity to share Christ? We are plodding along unaware thinking we will get our lives in order so that we can do great things for God? There is no time wait. If we open our eyes and look all around us, we can see lost people looking for the Answer we have. We don't travel to the harvest field, we live in the middle of it. We start sharing now, where we are, with what we have. Our Lord will keep us supplied. The field is ready and so large. Those who are willing to open their eyes and take up the call to harvest are so few.

Heavenly Father, we ask you to forgive us for living day after day with closed eyes. We have failed to see opportunities to share the gospel message and words of hope and encouragement. Help us to be aware of those around us who need someone to give them hope. Keep our minds ready to work in the harvest field, right where we are. We ask this in Jesus' name. Amen

KEY TO GOD'S STORE

Isaiah 33:6

He will be sure foundation for your times, a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge; the fear of the Lord is the key to this treasure." NIV

"And wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thy times, and strength of salvation: the fear of the LORD is his treasure." KJV

The fear of the Lord is to give total respect and recognition of His divine authority. If we have true fear of the Lord, we have that which opens a vast storehouse of blessings with all wisdom and knowledge. What glorious treasures He has for us if we just give Him the honor and respect that belongs to Him.

Heavenly Father, we offer up to you all honor, glory, and praise for the Almighty God you are and the wonderful things you have for us. We are humbled that you have seen fit to give us access to all your blessings, and knowledge, and wisdom. Help us to put on your Son, Jesus Christ, so that we will be worthy to partake. We ask in Jesus' name. Amen

SAWDUST AND PLANKS

Matthew 7:3

"Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?" NIV

"And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?" KJV

Our human nature causes us to examine our own problems with eyes half open and a string of excuses and rationales. This keeps us from having to discipline ourselves to work and rid our lives of those things that should be removed. Instead we put on our magnifying glasses and our judge's robes to scour and scan the smallest faults in others. Remember, God will judge us with the methods we use to judge others. Our job is to put off the old human nature and ask the Lord to examine us for sawdust and planks.

Heavenly Father, how sorry we are for being so quick to point out the faults in others and so good at not seeing ours. Give us hearts of love that covers a multitude of sins and give us eyes to see where we need to get with you and make changes in our own lives. We pray this in Jesus' name. Amen

ACKNOWLEDGE AND WORSHIP

Psalm 29:2

"Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness." NIV

"Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness." KJV

To ascribe is to acknowledge the source or owner of something. God's name is the source of love, mercy, wisdom, and power. We are to honor His name as such in our praise and worship. Our worship is not dependent on the beautiful clothes and adornment we wear but it is holy and acceptable to God when we worship with clean, humble hearts.

Heavenly Father, we acknowledge that you are the source of all things good and holy. Help us Lord to always bring honor to your name and to approach you with pure and clean hearts. We pray in Jesus' name. Amen

HIS EVERLASTING ARMS

Deuteronomy 33:27

"The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms....." NIV

"The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms...." KJV

We know that faith come from hearing the Word. Our faith shows its strength in our ability to put our lives in God's hands. God cradles us in His eternal arms. As long as we choose to stay in his arms, we cannot get out of his reach or hidden from his sight. His arms keep us from falling. They keep us from all danger. They keep us.

Heavenly Father, we praise you and thank you for your everlasting arms that hold us and protect us. Help us to recognize when we are trying to get out of your arms to venture into our own agendas. You know what is best for us and we are safe right there in your everlasting arms. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

OUR WAY OR THE RIGHT WAY

Proverbs 16:25

"There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death." NIV

"There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death." KJV

Common sense is so practical and logical that it seems like the right thing to do. It is easy to make it a habit to follow common sense or the way that seems right. This way is dangerous and can result in spiritual death. Actually this is the opposite of walking by faith. The way of faith may not make sense, but it will keep us on the narrow path that leads to life.

Heavenly Father, we ask for your forgiveness for the times we rely on our own ideas of what is right. Help us Lord to keep our eyes on you and our faith grounded in the truth of your perfect plan for us. We pray in Jesus' name. Amen.

GOD'S TIME

2 Peter 3:8

"But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day." NIV

"But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day." KJV

There is no time with God as we know time. There is only eternity. The Lord has orchestrated things to result in the return of Jesus Christ and the new heaven and earth, for eternity. We still try to put God on our time schedule. Man made time in years, days, and minutes to stay on an organized schedule. If we refrain from trying to fit God into our time, we will be free to have patience and enjoy the unfolding of God's plan in His time.

Heavenly Father, forgive us for trying to put you into our concept of time and expecting you to answer our prayers in a given time span. Help us to understand that you do not watch a clock, but that you watch your eternal plan going forth into eternity just as you designed. In Jesus' name. Amen

LIVE IN HARMONY

1 Peter 3:8

"Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble." NIV

"Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous." KJV

If we move beyond insisting on our own way being the right way, we can be free to live in unity with other Christians. We can make it a point to be more understanding and supportive of those who are having difficulty. Our hearts will be more tender, loving, and patient, knowing we were one time in their shoes.

Heavenly Father, help us to set aside our own agenda and to become sensitive to the needs of others. Give us hearts that will allow us to live in harmony with one another, not judging, but understanding that we all stand in need of your grace. In Jesus' name, Amen

EVER PRESENT HELP

Psalm 46:1

"God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble." NIV

"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." KJV

So many times we let fear and worry come over us when we are faced with difficulty. If we will just think of the power of the Lord's strength and our free access to it, we will quench all fear and worry. The Lord's strength conquered Satan during the forty days in the wilderness. His strength conquered the depression and sorrow in the Garden of Gethsemane. The Lord's strength conquered death in the tomb. Our Lord gives us access to this same strength. We have no reason to fear.

Heavenly Father, forgive us when our faith is shaken and we begin to worry and fret. We ask for awareness of the Holy Spirit who reminds us of this awesome strength of our Lord that has also been given to us. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen

ENTICED BY SIN

James 1:14

"But each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed." NIV

"But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed." KJV

We all have a weakness in our spiritual armor. It is our responsibility to know what that weakness is, to be alert, and to keep on the whole armor of God. If we will faithfully do these things we will not be like fish who are being reeled in because they swallowed a hook containing food that looked enticing to them.

Heavenly Father, we recognize that we are vulnerable to being tempted. We ask that you help us know where are weaknesses are and help us to keep our faith strong through prayer, study of the Word, and fellowship with other Christians. In Jesus' name, Amen

THE HIGH POSITION OF HUMILITY

James 1:9

"The brother in humble circumstances ought to take pride in his high position." NIV

"Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted." KJV

It is easier to be thankful and praise God when things are going our way and life is good. For one who is struggling and doing without necessary things, it is a show of great and strong faith to glorify God and live in complete devotion to Him. Regardless of our circumstances, knowing our spiritual poverty and approaching the Lord with humble hearts is what God looks on with great pleasure and favor.

Heavenly Father, we ask that you help us to recognize how rich we are because we have You as our Lord and Saviour. It does not matter now much worldly possessions we have, but that we have you. Help us stay focused on how rich we are in You, in Jesus' name, Amen.

WE ARE JESUS' FAMILY

Hebrews 2:11

"For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren." KJV

The one who makes men holy is Jesus Christ. He is the very Son of God, the Saviour of the world, the One who was in the beginning and took part in the creation of the world. Those of us who have accepted Him and His glorious holiness are His family. It makes our Lord proud to call us His family. What honor He lavishes on us without us ever earning or deserving it.

Heavenly Father, we just praise you for your majesty and greatness and we thank you that you love us so much that you freely let your love and fellowship shower us, although we don't deserve it. Help us to be right examples of your family members, in Jesus' name, Amen.

HEART EXAM

Psalm 26:2

"Test me, O Lord, and try me, examine my heart and my mind." NIV

"Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; try my reins and my heart." KJV

Sometimes we overlook things within us that hinder our Christian walk because we are so accustomed to the way we are or we do not recognize that anything is amiss. When we ask the Master Examiner to check our hearts and minds, He will bring out the smallest hint of wrongdoing. Many Christians prefer to just gloss over in a self examination to make sure there are no noticeable or terribly wretched problems within. Small cancerous tumors grow into large fatal masses. It is hard to be held under the microscope, but the love of the Lord causes Him to take the smallest uncleanness and make our hearts as white as snow. Sometimes it is painful, but the results are a clean conscience, a pure heart, and eternal life.

Heavenly Father, we do not want to have hearts that have even small amounts of sin and the only way we can have clean and pure hearts is to allow you to search us and take care of any problem that is there. We ask that you examine us right now and reveal to us the state of our hearts that we might be clean and pure in your sight. In Jesus' name, Amen.

RULES OF COMPETITION

2 Timothy 2:5

"Similarly, if anyone competes as an athlete, he does not receive the victor's crown unless he competes according to the rules." NIV

"And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully." KJV

Living the life of a Christian is much the same as living life as an athlete. There are certain things required of an athlete who expects to finish first in competition, and if these requirements are followed half hearted, hit and miss, or side stepped, there will be no prize, only disqualification. The same is true for a true Christian. The world may be foolish and the person may fool himself, but when the real test comes, the winner will be the who who did things God's way.

Heavenly Father, we need your help in living our lives according to the leading of the Spirit so that we will be living according to your will and will live with you in eternity. Forgive us for the times we are slack and try to take short cuts. We know that is not what you intend for us. Give us hearts of fervor to do things according to your plan, in Jesus' name. Amen.

NO HIPPOCRITE ZONE

1 Timothy 4:16

"Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers." NIV

"Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee." KJV

Why do we need to watch our lives and doctrine? The answer is easy. How many times have we witnessed the hypocrites who say one thing and do another? We can fall into that just as quickly as the next if we are not watching. That's the goal of the evil one, to get us to discredit God, destroy our walk with God, and extinguish the desire of another to try God's way. We have to watch what we say and how we live. Our salvation and that of everyone's around us is affected by it.

Heavenly Father, forgive us for not being as watchful about how we talk and live. If we have caused anyone to stumble because we have not been consistent, we ask that you make right the damage we have done. Help us to always be watchful and aware of how we can affect others and even keep them from wanting to be a part of your kingdom. In Jesus' name, Amen.

GOD'S LOVE CHRIST'S PATIENCE

2 Thessalonians 3:5

"May the Lord direct your hearts into God's love and Christ's perseverance." NIV

"And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ." KJV

Without the direction of the Lord, our hearts would be finding all kinds of paths and alley ways that would lead us away from Him. The Lord keeps our hearts pure as we give Him control. The Lord Jesus Christ showed us how to stay under the direction of our Heavenly Father with patience until that day when we go to dwell with Him forever.

Heavenly Father, how thankful for your direction that keeps us on the right path and for the example Jesus Christ who showed us how to wait patiently for your will to be accomplished. Help us to keep going forward under your direction, in Jesus' name, Amen.

We will be looking to Him for guidance and direction, strength and wisdom, pure hearts. We will pray in audible voices and we will pray in our hearts. To be totally committed to the Lord is to be in a continual state of communication with Him.

GET RID OF THE OLD SELF

Ephesians 4:22

" You were taught, with regard to your former way of life,
to put off your old self which is being corrupted by its
deceitful desires." NIV

"That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old
man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts." KJV

Putting off our former selves is not a one time thing that
never has to be dealt with again. We are taught in the Word
to continually cast aside our sinful natures that keep
getting us side tracked and lured away to things that will
taint and destroy our walk with the Lord. This means we
much be aware of our own sinful natures and be willing to
put them behind us.

Heavenly Father, help us to recognize in the middle of our
hectic daily lives, that we cater to our own sinful natures.
Give us the desire to exercise our spiritual strength so that
we can cast aside that old nature and follow You. We pray

FIX OUR EYES

2 Corinthians 4:18

"So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is

is eternal." NIV

"While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the
things which are not seen: for the things which are seen
are temporal; but the things which are not seen are
eternal." KJV

As humans, it is natural to look at what our eyes can see.
We look at the situations we are going through as well. In
so doing, we eventually become fixed on these earthly,
temporary things. We end up focusing on difficulties or
things that are not good for us. If we focus our minds eyes
instead on glorious things that are waiting for us and the
eternal pleasure we will experience, all of difficulties will
seem less unbearable and the things that tempt us will not
seem so inviting.

Heavenly Father, we thank you that you have given us

have prepared for us. Help us to keep from getting fixated

LESS TALK MORE POWER

1 Corinthians 4:20

"For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of
power." NIV

"For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power." KJV

Many Christians have allowed words, phrases, or Christian
"lingo" to have more power in their gatherings and their
personal lives than they should. Words and phrases have
as much divine power as wood and metal idols. We can
talk about God and the things of God all day, but the power
is not in the words. The power is in the Holy Spirit coming
through us because we have put on Christ and have done
away with our own prideful natures.

Heavenly Father, we confess that we have gotten caught
up in Christian talk and debate without the leading of Your
Holy Spirit. Help us, Lord, to be sensitive to Your Spirit so
that Your power will flow through us and reach lost souls
for your kingdom. In Jesus' name, Amen.

INNOCENT

Romans 4:8

"Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord will never

"Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute

And who is it that is so blessed to never be accountable
for his sins? It is the man who has accepted that Jesus
Christ allowed Himself to be accountable for them, and
because of that, the sins are erased. As Christians, if we
find no pleasure in anything else, this alone should make
us shout for joy continually.

Heavenly Father, we praise you and glorify your name

our punishment for us. Help us to share the joy of this
to everyone we meet. In Jesus' name, Amen.

DID GOD HEAR ME?

Lamentations 3:44

"You have covered yourself with a cloud so that no
prayer can get through." NIV

"Thou hast covered thyself with a cloud, that our
prayer should not pass through." KJV

It is difficult to understand why God does not seem to hear
or answer prayers at times. How often has it appeared that
our prayers have gone to the ceiling and then plummeted to
the floor? God has spoken to us about this time and time
again about coming to Him in prayer with unconfessed sin
in our hearts. We are much like a teenager who has
disregarded parental directives to clean the room. The
teenager is then insulted that the parents refuse to give
money for going to the mall. The parents did not refuse
the child's request because they don't love and care for
the child. It is the same with God and His love for us. He
has told us to examine ourselves and confess all sin. Then
He will acknowledge our prayers and heal our spirits.

Heavenly Father, we stand in need of your grace so that we
will always examine our hearts and make things right with
you and our fellowmen before we come to you with our
petitions. We realize that sin keeps our prayers from
reaching your ears. Help us Lord, to approach you with
clean hearts, in Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

THE GIFT OF TODAY

Today is a gift from God to us. It is an opportunity for us

QUENCHING OUR THIRST

John 7:37

"If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink." NIV

"If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink." KJV

Being thirsty is a great motivator for us to find something
to quench our thirst. We understand by nature that if we do
not drink eventually we will die. Just as this is true for our
physical bodies, it is true for our spiritual lives. We cannot
quench our spiritual thirst with anything from this world.
The water we need for our thirsty souls is Jesus Christ.
Like our human bodies need continual water, our souls
need Jesus Christ continually.

Heavenly Father, for the times we have looked to the
things of this world to satisfy a longing in our souls,
we ask you to forgive us. We know there is nothing in
this world that will quench the thirst of our spirit and
we give you praise and glory for giving us this spiritual
water to drink in abundance. In Jesus' name, Amen.

LIVING OR DYING IS VICTORY

Philippians 1:21

"For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain." NIV

"For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain." KJV

For us to stay alive in this world is to be witnesses for
Him. It is to live as He lived, even if it means suffering
persecution and ridicule. It mean to enjoy communion
with and comfort from our Lord. Being alive here on earth
allows us to be fruit bearers drawing the lost to Christ.
For us to die is for us to be free of earthly troubles and
difficulties. It means no more temptations, doubts, or
fears. We will be totally free from death. And, we will
bask with joy in the eternal blessings of God. Either
way, God will be glorified and we are winners of the
prize.

Heavenly Father, forgive us when we have doubts and
fears about living in this world or of dying. Being your
children we have nothing to worry about. Help us to
remember that whether we live or die, we are already

DON'T PUT YOURSELF IN JEOPARDY

Ephesians 4:27

"And do not give the devil a foothold." NIV

"Neither give place to the devil." KJV

Anger can be a large opening for the entrance of Satan.
If we do not keep our anger under control, we are carving
a perfect step for the evil one to place his foot and just
take off with his hatred and toxin. We are all in situations
that cause us to become angry, and anger is a normal
human emotion. But when our anger takes over our self
control, we literally hand control over to whatever or
whoever is there to take it over. It is up to us. We have the
choice and the control. Let's keep that in mind each time
our emotions get intense.

Heavenly Father, please forgive us when we have allowed
our anger to be taken over by the evil one because we
didn't keep control. Help us, Lord, to never give the devil
an opportunity to work through our uncontrolled
emotions. We pray in Jesus' name. Amen.
