John 15:5
"I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing." NIV
"I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing." KJV
The vine keeps the whole plant rooted, stable, and nourished. It is the source of life for the branches and fruit. A branch severed from the vine cannot survive. God will never separate us from the True Vine, but we can choose to detach ourselves. If we do, we cannot survive spiritually. We are totally dependent on Jesus Christ for our very lives, our stability, and our spiritual food. If we cut ourselves off from Him, all we have left to thrive on are this cursed world and our own strength. Without Him, we are like dead, fallen branches.
Heavenly Father, we praise you and glorify your name because you have given us Jesus Christ, our True Vine. We are supplied with all we need to be alive and healthy spiritually. Help us to always stay true to the Vine so that we will have life and bear fruit for your kingdom. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Hi Bobbi, I'm glad you shared this familiar scripture with us today. It is so true... we really need to cling to the vine in times like this. Happy Spiritual Sunday!
ReplyDeleteThe only thing harder than being a Christian is NOT being one.
ReplyDeleteSo true, and I just came in from the yard and was astonished at how strong the vines were from the gourds I was trying to cut free to dry. Much to think about and Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect picture to go with this scripture.
