SHHHHH! GOD IS

Habakkuk 2:20
"The Lord is in His holy temple; let all the earth be silent before Him." NIV

"But the Lord is in His holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before Him." KJV

Where is God's temple? His temple is where He is and He is omnipresent, meaning He is everywhere and there is no place where He is not. There is no power or authority that can stand before Him and question His majesty and holiness. The whole earth sits as one who cannot speak because the greatness of God Almighty is true throughout eternity. Isn't it critical that we take time to acknowledge our God, His presence, and His glory? If our time doesn't allow us to be still before Him in worship, we need to rearrange our schedules.

Heavenly Father, we recognize You as the Supreme Creator and Authority over all. We humbly stand in Your presence and praise You with our whole being. Help us to walk worthy before You and be obedient to You. In the name of Jesus' we pray, Amen.

DON'T JUST LISTEN! TAKE ACTION!

James 1:22

"Do not merely listen to the word, and deceive yourselves. Do what it says." NIV

"But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves." KJV

There are many Christians who spend much time studying the scriptures and learning as much as they can about God's Word. While that is a good thing to do, it sometimes causes a dangerous problem. We become so learned in the scriptures that we go around quoting and teaching what the Word says, but we fail to put it into practice. Knowledge of the Word only makes us proud. Living the Word in our daily lives and actively walking in obedience to the Word makes us like Christ.

Heavenly Father, we ask You to forgive us for merely reading Your Word and failing to put it into practice as You have told us to do. Give us power through the Holy Spirit to live, walk, and breathe the Word of God because it is living and active. We should be as well. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

LEVEL GROUND

Isaiah 26:7

The path of the righteous is level; you, the Upright One, make the way of the righteous smooth." NIV

"The way of the just is uprightness: thou, most upright, dost weigh the path of the just." KJV

Since we live in a cursed world, all humans walk out their lives on paths that are filled with debris and potholes. However, those who are righteous in the eyes of the Lord, who is the only upright one, will smooth out those rough spots and work out the problems so that passage onward will be less of a burden and more of a blessing.

Heavenly Father, we're sorry that we forget that life in this world is difficult and You have told we will have problems here. When we come across stumbling blocks and things that stop our walk, help us to remember that You are with us to make those rough places smooth. You will work out all those tribulations for us, Your righteous ones. In Jesus' name, Amen.

MIND FOCUS

Colossians 3:2

"Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things." NIV

"Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth." KJV

As Christians it is easy to understand that focusing our minds on earthly things will soon bring us disappointment and sorrow. Staying focused on the things of God will always keep our hearts at peace and joy because the things of God are eternal. The problem is the forces at work in this world keep distracting us and we tend to let our minds get stuck on the things of this world. If we wake up giving the Lord our day and ask Him to help us stay focused on Him, we will find our lives are more content and happy.

Heavenly Father, we are sorry that we allow the world to draw our attention away from You. Help us through the power of the Holy Spirit to keep our minds focused on the eternal things of Your kingdom and not the degenerating things of this world. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

HOLY SEARCH WARRANT

Psalm 139: 23,24

"Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting." NIV

"Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting." KJV

Asking God to search our hearts and see if there is anything there that should not be there is like getting a search warrant for the police to search our home for anything illegal. God will search every tiny crack and crevice of our hearts so that He can reveal to us the things with which we need to take care. We tend to be in denial of our anxieties and offensive ways. By allowing God to search us in this way, we are purifying our hearts so that the Holy Spirit has a spotless home within us.

Heavenly Father, we do ask that You search our hearts and help us to accept and change anything You find that is not pleasing to You. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

CAPTURE THOSE THOUGHTS

2 Corinthians 10:5

"We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ." NIV

"Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ." KJV

Aren't we all familiar with those nagging, negative thoughts that make us worry and fret? It seems like those thoughts just keep going around and around in our heads to keep us from having any peace. Those thoughts are from the enemy, who wants us to be fearful, to question the truth, and to question God. If we will remember that we have the authority to take these thoughts, bind them up, and take them to Christ, He will take them and exchange them for peace and contentment. If we let these thoughts get the best of us, we will be on edge, anxious, and mistrusting of God and man.

Heavenly Father, forgive us for allowing the enemy to place thoughts in our heads that create doubt and fear. Help us to use the authority You have given us through the name of Christ, to take those thoughts captive and bring them to You. And we thank You for the peace and joy You bring to us for doing so. In Jesus' precious name we pray, Amen.

EVERYTHING IS BEAUTIFUL

Ecclesiastes 3:11

"He as made everything beautiful in its time....." NIV

"He hath made every thing beautiful in his time...." KJV

It's very difficult for us to see that everything has beauty in it. Sometimes the way our lives go, it seems that any beauty is non-existent. But when we look at the caterpillar locking itself within a tiny cocoon for a period of time, we wonder what beauty could there be in that. In time, the cocoon begins to crack and open. There is a traumatic struggle that seems nothing but death could possibly result. Where's the beauty in that? But, finally, there emerges the most beautiful butterfly that spreads it's wings and flutters through the air with graceful freedom. There's the beauty! If we begin to think of our own struggles as part of the process to God's beauty, we will have hope.

Heavenly Father, forgive us for becoming discouraged when things just don't seem to go right. Fill our hearts and minds with the understanding that everything is beautiful in Your time. Help us rejoice that things will work out for our good and Your glory. In Jesus' name, Amen.
