KNOWLEDGE 101

Proverbs 1:7 "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction." ESV

Of all the knowledge mankind can obtain, it is worthless unless it is connected at the foundation to the fear of the Lord. The fear of the Lord is the most important knowledge. Recognizing God is all in all will result in total trust that God will give us the knowledge that gets us to Him. To fear the Lord is not to be afraid of Him. It is an all encompassing reverence and humble acceptance that He is Knowledge.

Heavenly Father, help us to search ourselves to see if we have the reverence and acceptance that leads us to the wisdom and knowledge that takes us to eternal life with You. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

WALKING PARTNERS

Proverbs 13:20

"Whoever walks with the wise, becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm." ESV

To walk with someone is so much more than an occasional stroll. It is to spend time with, be attached to, and take on the ways of those with whom we walk. We become like them. As Christians, we are around people of all kinds, but we watchfully and carefully choose with whom we walk.

Heavenly Father, we stand in need of discernment so that we will walk with those who will bring us closer to you, and to still be able to witness and to be living testimonies to those who may not be good for us be like. We pray in Jesus' name, Amen.

FOOLS LOVE TO ARGUE

Proverbs 20:3

"It is to one's honor to avoid strife, but every fool is quick to argue." NIV

"It is an honour for a man to cease from strife: but every fool will be meddling." KJV

The evil one comes to divide, confuse, and create contention in any kind of relationship. Furthermore, it's very easy to get caught up in arguments and divisions because it is in our human natures and we usually think we can help. Jesus avoided strife because He spoke the Word of God and shut the mouths of those who tried to create contention and to make Him look like a fraud. Sometimes He said nothing, shook the dust off His feet and walked away. If we follow in His footsteps, we will do the same and leave the arguing and strife to the fools who refuse to walk with the Lord.

Heavenly Father, forgive us for allowing ourselves to get caught in the trap of arguing and strife. Help us to be discerning and know when to speak and when to walk away. We pray in the name of Jesus, Amen.

FAST TALKERS

Proverbs 29:20

"Do you see someone who speaks in haste? There is more hope for a fool than for them." NIV

"Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words? There is more hope for a fool than for him." KJV

How many times have we said something without thinking, just blurting it out, then regretting it? How often have we been quick to spill out words in anger that we don't really mean? We are accountable for every word we speak. Words spoken to another can never be taken back. If we will give our Lord control of our words and stay alert to what we say, He will help us to speak words that encourage, lift up, and provide a positive atmosphere for those around us. The Word says those who speak what's on their mind without thinking are worse than fools.

Heavenly Father, we ask Your forgiveness for those times we have spoken in haste and have caused hurt and problems for others and ourselves. Give us the power through Your Holy Spirit to speak in ways that are pleasing to You. We pray this in the name of Jesus, Amen.
