STAIN RESISTANT

James 1:27

"Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world." NIV

"Pure religion and undefiled before God the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world." KJV

It can be frustrating to bring a shirt out of the washer and there is still a stain on the front of it. If the shirt is worth keeping, we will find a product that will remove that stain and re-wash it. Unfortunately, keeping ourselves unstained by the world is not that easy. First of all, God tells us it is our responsibility to keep ourselves spotless from the pollution of the world. We cannot blame others if we fall into the ways of the world. And there is no earthly means by which we can keep ourselves spiritually clean. If we commit our ways to the Lord and walk in His Spirit, we will have the perfect stain protector and remover.

Heavenly Father, we are sorry that we allow ourselves to get caught up in the world and wear the stains of it in Your presence. Forgive us and help us to live out the words You have spoken that help us to stay unspotted by this world. In Jesus' name, Amen.

BE SEPARATE

The Lord has commanded us to be separate people. He did not
tell us to segregate ourselves into isolated communities and
stay there. He wants us separated by our beliefs and lifestyle.
We cannot live in this world and be insulated from its influence.
But if we refuse to a part of the world's beliefs and lifestyles, God will protect us as our Heavenly Father.

Heavenly Father, how thankful we are that You are faithful to us
as we keep ourselves unstained by the ways of the world. We ask
that you help us to stay a separate people that You would be
glorified. In Jesus' name.

Read 2 Corinthians 6:17

"Therefore, come out from them and be separate, says the Lord.
Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you." (NIV)

"Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you." (KJV)

TRUE RELIGION

The original Latin meaning of the word religion is to tie, fasten, or bind,
like a ligament functions in the muscle structure of the human body. When our religion consists of being tied to tradition and rituals, it makes us rigid and susceptible to breaking apart. When the effect of our religion is mercy and giving to the needs of others, we become a living tie between the flowing, living love of the Lord and others around us. Being tied (bound) to the Lord is our choice. It is a choice that gives us the power to stay spiritually free from worldly ways. That is true religion.

Read James 1:27

Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world." (NIV)

"Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world." (KJV)
