BE JOYFUL ABOUT WHAT?

Romans 5:3

". . . but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance." ESV

It is so easy to be joyful when we are blessed with good things. But, it is another story to rejoice when we are suffering. If we will allow ourselves to rejoice during times of suffering, we will gain spiritual strength and stamina.

Lord, help us to rejoice in our suffering and remind us that doing so will bring us greater spiritual power and strength. In Your great name we pray, Amen.

ACTIONS BRING ANSWERS TO LIGHT

Hebrews 10:36

"For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised." ESV

If we cannot see the Lord answering our prayers, it is often times because we are sitting passively by, like a spectator, waiting for Him to move on our behalf. The Word tells to be active when we pray: listen, walk, pray, be mindful, be ready, put on, throw aside, rejoice, forgive, and endure. There are many more things we are instructed to do as we wait on Him. If we are doing these things, we will see and know He is answering our prayers.

Lord, so many times we overlook what You are doing in answer to our prayers. We sit back and expect You to respond to our needs while we neglect to do those things You have told us to do. Forgive us, Lord, for our neglect and help us to be actively working out our own salvation. In Your name we pray, Amen.

A CROWN FOR PASSING THE TEST

James 1:12

"Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him." ESV

It's getting harder and harder to stay strong and to cope with the trials and temptations we face today. When we know the final outcome of everything we go through, although we may not know the purpose, we will have the strength and understanding to face whatever trial comes our way.

Heavenly Father, how we thank You for Your mighty promise to us that we will receive the crown of life if we endure to the end. Forgive us for our weaknesses and complaining when things are going badly and we see no purpose in them. You know the reasons and You have promised us the crown of life if we stay strong. That's all we need to know. We pray this in the name of Jesus, Amen.

IT'S GETTING COLD OUT THERE

Matthew 24:12,13

"And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end will be saved." ESV

The evil and deception that is present in these last days will have a profound effect on lukewarm and weak Christians. They will fear dying and will be deceived by false teachers. They will compromise their love for God and let it fade. Those who stand strong and remain faithful to the very end have no reason to worry. Their eternity is secure.

Heavenly Father, this world is getting such that at times we are not sure if it is Your voice we hear or a voice we really want to hear instead. Give us the Spirit of Truth, and help us to accept the power and endurance You so freely offer us to stay strong. We pray in the name of Jesus, Amen.

LET'S KEEP WITH IT

Philippians 3:16

"Only let us hold true to what we have attained." ESV

Because we live in a world that is so full of sin and deceit, we can easily become entangled with smooth words and actions that seem right, but are contrary to what we have learned about Christ and the Gospel message. As born again believers in Jesus Christ, His Holiness, His death and resurrection, it is our responsibility to hold on securely to the maturity and truth we have already achieved so that it is not stolen from us. We have so much farther to go. This world and the evil one can get us off track at any point. We by no means want to go where that would take us.

Heavenly Father, we stand in need of the guidance and direction of the Holy Spirit so that we will hold fast to the Gospel message and not get off track with unimportant rules and doubts that get us confused. Keep us on the path, holding on securely to the Truth we know of Jesus Christ and Him crucified. In His name we pray, Amen.

ULTRA STRENGTH ENDURANCE

Colossians 1:11

"Being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience." NIV

"Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and long suffering with joyfulness." KJV

We have a certain amount of confidence in products who's names begin with mega-, super-, extra-, and ultra-. It's like those products contain something special and more powerful than an average product. We can't really put any of these in front of the power of God, because nothing can be more powerful, nor added to the almighty power of God. What is so amazing is that God makes His power available to us for the asking so that we can stay in the race, carry on in this battle, and fight the good fight until He gets us to eternity with Him. Now there is no excuse to give up. Our own power will get us nowhere. His power will take us all the way.

Heavenly Father, we magnify and glorify You for Your awesome power that You so freely give us to keep going in this spiritual battle that often times tries to consume us. Keep us firmly engulfed in Your power and not relying on our own power to get us to the finish line. We pray this in the mighty name of Jesus our Lord, Amen.

FUELED WITH POWER AND PATIENCE

Colossians 1:11

"Being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience." NIV

"Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and long suffering with joyfulness." KJV

We can think of times when we have worked a very hard day and with our weary bodies we lie down to a good night's sleep. When we wake up, we feel refreshed and strengthened. Just imagine how we can feel when we allow God to strengthen our weary spirits with His mighty power. Yes, God longs to make us strong by His all powerful strength. His Word tells us He does this so that we will meet every day in this evil world with more energy and patience.

Heavenly Father, we cannot fathom the power that dwells with You that is all power. We stand in need of strength to stand against the trials and problems this world throws our way. Forgive us for wanting to give up and sit back in defeat. Give us strength to endure with patience and joy through Your almighty power. We ask in the name of Jesus, Amen.

HOLDING UP UNDER PRESSURE

Revelation 2:3

"You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary." NIV

"And has borne, and hast patience, and for my name's sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted." KJV

Too often, we get burdened down under the load of this world's tribulations and they makes us incapable of carrying on the way the Lord has directed us. The true test of commitment to the Lord God is that even when our whole world seems to be crashing down around us, we stand strong, with patience and continue to follow the leading of the Lord. Nothing can distract us for our service to Him. While we are about His business, He is steadily working out our problems and we will find it was worth doing His will rather than worrying and becoming dormant for His kingdom.

Heavenly Father, we ask Your forgiveness for allowing our problems and tribulations to overpower us to the point of stopping our progress in our Christian walk. Help us to understand that if we continue to seek You and Your will for our lives, patiently working as You lead us, You will take care of all our problems. We thank You and praise You for that. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
