WE ALL DROP OUR STONES

John 8:7-9

"And as they continued to ask him, he stood up and said to them, 'Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her.' And once more he bent down and wrote on the ground. But when they heard it, they went away one by one, beginning with the older ones, and Jesus was left alone with the woman standing before him." ESV

Had we been there, would any of us have been able to throw a stone at the woman? How many stones do we throw each day without even giving it a thought that we are not flawless and in reality, should have stones thrown at us. Jesus was the only one that was without sin and he could have stoned this woman. His love and mercy overshadowed the law. He had proven His point. She knew she was guilty and was at Jesus' mercy to save her life. He did. If we find that we have a stone in our hands to throw at someone, let's remember our own sin, drop the stone, and walk away.

Heavenly Father, how thankful we are for Your great mercy to us. We deserve death, but by the blood of Jesus Christ, the punishment for our sins has been accomplished. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit and when we feel justified in throwing a stone at someone, put that nudge within us to remember that we deserve it too. We humbly pray in Jesus' name, Amen.

IT'S OUR CHOICE

Luke 20:18

"Everyone who fall on that stone will be broken to pieces, and when it falls on anyone, it will crush him." ESV

If we give ourselves over to the Lord, He will make us into new creatures from the broken pieces of our lives. But if we insist on being the masters of our own lives, His judgment will crush and destroy us. Remember, we have a choice to make: Fall at His feet and allow Him to rebuild us in His image. Or, keep control of our own lives, have His judgment fall on us, and be condemned for eternity. The choice is ours.

Heavenly Father, we give You praise for the free gift of salvation and the freedom to accept it. Help us to be living testimonies to those who need to make the choice to turn their lives over to you. We pray in the name of Jesus, Amen.
