SOWING AND REAPING

The law of sowing and reaping is one that has proven true throughout the history of mankind, in the Old Testament and the New. Whatever thoughts we harbor, whatever words we speak, whatever our deeds, they will come back to us. If we are careful what seeds we sow, we won't need to worry abut the harvest we will reap.

Heavenly Father, we pray that You will help us to be aware of the thoughts we have, the words we speak, and the actions we do, that they will be pleasing to you and uplifting to others. Help us to plant good seeds so that we will welcome the harvest we reap. In Jesus' name.

Read Obadiah 1:15

"The day of the Lord is near for all nations. As you have done, it will be done to you; your deeds will return upon your own head." (NIV)

"For the day of the LORD is near upon all the heathen: as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee: thy reward shall return upon thine own head." (KJV)

FOUNDATION OF ALL KNOWLEDGE

Of all the knowledge that can be known, none of it is worth anything unless it is built on the most important foundation. That foundation is the fear of the Lord. It is the most important knowledge because recognizing God is all in all, everything we learn will grow out of that fact and God will direct our knowledge until we get to Him. If we want wisdom, we begin with fear of the Lord.

Heavenly Father, help us to search ourselves so that we have that fear that leads to wisdom and knowledge that is worth eternal life with you. In Jesus' name.

Read Proverbs 1:7

"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline." (NIV)

"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction." (KJV)

OMNIPOTENT GOD

If we really believe that God is all powerful, we will not worry
about things like we do. When God sets something in place,
there is nothing that can change it, except God Himself. If God
chooses to keep something from happening, there is nothing that
can make it happen, except God Himself. God is omnipotent. He
is all powerful and there is no power greater than Him. Trust Him, we will not be disappointed.

Heavenly Father, how thankful we are that you are all powerful,
and that we can put our whole trust in you. You know what is
best for us and we thank you that you open and shut the doors
according to your will. Because of that, You will be glorified and
we will have what is best for us. In Jesus Name.

Read Revelation 3:7

"....These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open." (NIV)

"....These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth." (KJV)

LISTENING AND DOING

Listening to the Word brings faith. But that is only the beginning. If we do not do what the Word says, we are deceived by thinking all we need to do is listen and know the Word to be safe and secure. Obedience by doing is what makes our faith alive. Knowing and listening to the Word with faith and not doing what the Word says makes our faith just like a corpse.

Heavenly Father, we ask that you help us do what your Word says so that our faith will be alive and fruitful for your kingdom. In Jesus' Name.

Read James 1:22

"Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. (NIV)

"But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves." (KJV)

THIS IS THE WAY

If we are trusting the Lord in spite of trials and bitter circumstances, He will allow us to recognize His voice. It may be through His Word, or through those who are wise in His Word. It might be through that still small voice within or through the circumstances themselves. No matter where we are, we will be able to hear God's voice directing our steps.

Heavenly Father, give us the grace we need to trust and wait for Your direction. Help us to hear Your voice whenever and however you speak. In Jesus' Name

Read Isaiah 30:20,21

"Although the Lord gives you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, your teachers will be hidden no more; with your own eyes you will see them. Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you saying, 'This is the way; walk in it." (NIV)

"And though the Lord give you the bread of adversity, and the water of affliction, yet shall not thy teachers be removed into a corner any more, but thine eyes shall see thy teachers: And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left." (KJV)

UNLIFTING THE VEIL

If we keep our eyes on the Lord and focus on Him alone, He will show us plainly the meaning of His words and the true nature of Himself. Our understanding of the Bible will have clarity and provide revelation of His will. If our eyes are on the world or our circumstances, the veil will remain.

Heavenly Father, we pray that You will help us to stay focused on You so that we may see clearly and truly know You and Your will. In Jesus' name.

Read 2 Corinthians 3:16

"But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away." (NIV)

"Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away." (KJV)

WRECKLESS VS WISE WORDS

If we speak to one another without thought or without being careful what we are saying, we are in danger of hurting, disheartening, and crushing others. Only the wise person is careful when speaking and God honors the words of the wise by bringing forth healing to those who hear.

Heavenly Father, please teach us to be wise when we speak so that we will build up with healing and not cause pain and destruction to others. In Jesus' name.

Read Proverbs 12:18

"Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing." (NIV)

"There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise is health." (KJV)
