RUN THE OTHER WAY

1 Corinthians 10:14

"Therefore, my dear friends, flee from idolatry."NIV

"Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry."KJV

Why would this verse of scripture have anything to do with us today? We don't carve out images of wood and metal, then worship them as representatives of gods. The evil one has subtly taken this world to a place where we have idols all around us, without us giving them a second thought. Yes, even we as Christians. And if we are not alert and discerning, we may be caught up in modern idolatry. Just exactly what is idolatry then? It is anything that would have even a slight tendency to lead us into sin. It is excessive, over zealous adoration for a person, place, or thing. Idolatry can even be a figment of the mind, a thought, or desire. Now we can see that idolatry is flourishing in our world even more than in Bible times. Let's turn and run from it now, as fast as we can.

Heavenly Father, please open our eyes to the world of idols around us and how easy it is to get caught up in them. Give us feet to run from idolatry and into Your loving arms. We pray in Jesus' name, Amen.

Your words are so very true. Most of us tend to play down things that we enjoy and those end up being our idols.
Great post!
