2 Corinthians
7:1
"Therefore,
since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from
everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of
reverence for God." NIV
"Having
therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all
filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of
God."KJV
Our God promises
that He will accept us, even though we are weak and easily taken in by sin. He
has told us He is our Father and we are His children, even though we are
stubborn and rebellious. Because of our God's unconditional love and sacrifice
for us, the least we can do is dedicate our very lives and soul to Him. This
will mean a commitment to get rid of our selfish desires, our bad attitudes, and
anything that would stand in the way of total obedience to Him. This will be a
life long process out of respectful awe of God Almighty. He will help us to
accomplish it.
Heavenly Father,
it is such an awesome reality that You would love us in spite of our sinful
natures. We ask for Your grace to purify ourselves so that we will be living
examples of what Your love will do for those who accept Your Son. We pray this
in Jesus' name, Amen.
