DEATH TO EARTHLY NATURE

When we were saved, the Lord made us new creatures. Because we are
confined to this earth and to its natural laws, we still have thoughts and
desires that are contrary to God's way. We are told to kill these thoughts and desires, get rid of them, totally. It is our responsibility to do that. No excuses or exceptions. Examples of these sins are sexual thoughts and acts outside the bond of marriage; that which stains our Christian testimony; desiring that which is forbidden; giving in to that which we know is wrong; and being dissatisfied with what we have, always wanting more.

Heavenly Father, grant us strength to put to death all those sins that place us in danger of your displeasure. Help us to take responsibility for our thoughts, feelings, and actions. In Jesus' name.

Read Colossians 3:5

"Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature; sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires, and greed, which is idolatry." (NIV)

"Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry." (KJV)

Lonelyness and all that life has thrown in our path makes casting asside personal desires more difficult that is at first imagined but God, in his infinite wisdom, offers forgiveness and reconcilliation. Thank you Lord.
