GOOD TRUMPS EVIL

Romans 12:21

"Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good." NIV

"Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good." KJV

Getting even is such a response of the natural man. Our first instinct is to seek revenge on those who threaten or hurt us in some way. The Word of God plainly tells us it is our responsibility to keep the natural man bound up and allow our new man to act in the ways we were taught by Christ. Repaying evil for evil only creates more evil. Overcoming evil with good causes the evil to stop. If there is ever any question as to how to handle a situation where evil comes attacking, remember that we are to do good instead of trying to get even with evil.

Heavenly Father, forgive us for allowing the natural man to rule in situations where we are threatened, hurt, or taunted by evil actions of others. Help us to do what You have given us the power to do, respond to that evil with goodness. We pray in the name of Jesus, Amen.

FOOLS LOVE TO ARGUE

Proverbs 20:3

"It is to one's honor to avoid strife, but every fool is quick to argue." NIV

"It is an honour for a man to cease from strife: but every fool will be meddling." KJV

The evil one comes to divide, confuse, and create contention in any kind of relationship. Furthermore, it's very easy to get caught up in arguments and divisions because it is in our human natures and we usually think we can help. Jesus avoided strife because He spoke the Word of God and shut the mouths of those who tried to create contention and to make Him look like a fraud. Sometimes He said nothing, shook the dust off His feet and walked away. If we follow in His footsteps, we will do the same and leave the arguing and strife to the fools who refuse to walk with the Lord.

Heavenly Father, forgive us for allowing ourselves to get caught in the trap of arguing and strife. Help us to be discerning and know when to speak and when to walk away. We pray in the name of Jesus, Amen.

NO ONE CAN HARM US

Hebrews 13:6

"So we say with confidence, The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals to do me?" NIV

"So that we can boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me." KJV

We live in such a frightening and unstable world. It seems reasonable that fear is on the rise and running rampant, even for Christians. But, as Christians, we have this sure hope: Our God is forever watching over us, going with us through all things, and taking care of any circumstance that Satan means for our harm. There is no reason for us to fear anyone, be it world leaders, people in authority, or the people next door, because the Lord is our Helper and is on call 24/7 and for eternity.

Heavenly Father, how thankful we are that we serve a God who is constantly watching out for us and helping us get through this life. Help us to exercise our faith to conquer the fears that come on us because of the way the world is. We pray this in the name of our Lord Jesus, Amen.

HARMONY

Romans 12:16

"Live in harmony with one another, Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited." NIV

"Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise In your own conceits." KJV

Because of pride, many groups and cliques exist that exclude people who are unlike them. This is not just in the world, but unfortunately, it is in the church as well. Every human being is born into this piece of eternity called time. We all live our lives with what we have been given. All of us are getting through this life the best way we can. How can we think we are better than anyone else? If it were not for the grace of God, we could be that homeless man on the sidewalk or that starving child in a poverty stricken country. Christ unifies us totally. If we are walking in the Spirit, we are living in harmony with all people who seek the True and Living God. And we show love to those who need Christ.

Heavenly Father, forgive us for our pride, our egos that we harbor even without thinking. Search our hearts and help us to get rid of pride. Help us to live in harmony with others and be living testimonies of Your love and grace. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

HUMILITY IS EXALTED

James 4:10

"Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up." NIV

"Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up." KJV

When we receive something from the Lord, or discover we have spiritual gifts and talents, we want to tell others about it. Sharing God's work and blessings in our lives is a good thing. But it is so much better if we live out what God puts in and others will see it. We won't have to say anything about it because the Lord will cause others to see the light and holiness of Christ in us.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the wonderful workings, gifts, and blessings in our lives. Help us to accept them with humble hearts and to live in them so others will see our Godly behaviors that always lift You up. We pray in Jesus' name, Amen.

SUFFERING FOR GOD

1 Peter 2:19
"For it is commendable if someone bears up under the pain of unjust suffering because they are conscious of God." NIV

"For this is thank-worthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully." KJV

Do we really know what it is to suffer for God's sake? Are we acquainted with persecution for our Christian beliefs? Unfortunately, we complain when life's troubles come our way, even after Jesus told us we would have the world's tribulations while we are here. All people suffer those trials. If we have difficulty standing under the normal problems of this world, how will we stand when we are suffering unjust punishment for standing for our Lord and Saviour? If we will commit our lives totally to the Lord, in obedience and faith, He will be with us to stand under the pain of suffering for Him.

Heavenly Father, forgive us for complaining about the problems we experience as humans in this world. Give us focus on You and how we live our lives here on this earth so that when persecution due to our faith in You comes, we will be ready to stand strong and victoriously by Your grace. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.

SHHHHH! GOD IS

Habakkuk 2:20
"The Lord is in His holy temple; let all the earth be silent before Him." NIV

"But the Lord is in His holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before Him." KJV

Where is God's temple? His temple is where He is and He is omnipresent, meaning He is everywhere and there is no place where He is not. There is no power or authority that can stand before Him and question His majesty and holiness. The whole earth sits as one who cannot speak because the greatness of God Almighty is true throughout eternity. Isn't it critical that we take time to acknowledge our God, His presence, and His glory? If our time doesn't allow us to be still before Him in worship, we need to rearrange our schedules.

Heavenly Father, we recognize You as the Supreme Creator and Authority over all. We humbly stand in Your presence and praise You with our whole being. Help us to walk worthy before You and be obedient to You. In the name of Jesus' we pray, Amen.
