WHY ME LORD?

Matthew 5:45

" . . .He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous."NIV

" . . .For he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust."KJV

We may sometimes feel that we have been singled out to receive trials and tribulations while others seem to be getting along just fine. Jesus told us we would have trouble in this world. How can we forget that? Adversity and problems come to everyone in this world. The difference between the just and the unjust is that God has promised to be with the just, His children, through all trouble. How can we forget that?

Heavenly Father, sometimes we forget that the trouble we experience is not specific just for us, but that all people, the just and unjust, experience problems. Help us to remember and to rejoice that You are with us in our troubles and will never leave us. In Jesus' name, Amen.

TIRED? KEEP GOING

Galatians 6:9

"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."NIV

"And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not."KJV

There are many times when we become tired and weary. We do not see the fruits of our efforts. It is at those times we can go to the Word of God for renewal and refreshment. We can spend time talking with the Lord and He will refill us with His Spirit. We can spend time with Godly friends and family who will encourage us. As we see throughout the Scriptures, we become the weariest at times when things seem dark, and that there is no progress. That's when we seek fresh power from our Lord. He will sustain us until the end so we do not have to give up. He will provide all we need to keep going.

Heavenly Father, we do get weary at times and want to give up. Forgive us. We pray for openness to the provisions You have freely and abundantly given us to keep going. Give us faith and determination to keep going in Your power and blessings. In Jesus' name, Amen.

IT BEGINS HOW MUCH YOU GIVE

2 Corinthians 9:6

"Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever shows generously will also reap generously."NIV

"But I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. KJV

If we put our best purified drinking water in a container and fill it only part way, that is all we will have when we need good drinking water. If we fill as many containers as we can with our best water, we will have plenty of water to drink when we need it. The thing to remember here is that God is not talking about our own containers. He is referring to people who are in need of that which we have plenty. How much are we willing to give and how much will we insist on keeping for ourselves?

Heavenly Father, You have blessed us so much with many good things. We ask Your forgiveness for our selfishness. Give us tender, open hearts to give to those who are in need, not for the blessing You will give us, but for being conduits of Your love for the lost and needy. In Jesus' name, Amen.

IS GOD COMFORTABLE IN MY HEART?

Ephesians 3:16

"I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his spirit in your inner being."NIV

"That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man."KJV

Our God stands ever ready to shower us with the glorious power of His Spirit so that our very heart will be strong in faith and the power of His might. If we search ourselves honestly, and ask ourselves if God is comfortable in our inner being, we may need to get on our knees and allow Him to do the work He so longs to do for us.

Heavenly Father, how we pray that You would search our hearts and reveal to us if we have allowed You to do the work there that will give us Your power and allow the Holy Spirit to have His way in us. In Jesus name, Amen.

NO NEED TO FEAR

Hebrews 13:6

"So we say with confidence, 'The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?'"NIV

"So we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me."KJV

The Lord our God has promised to never leave us nor forsake us. If we are in situations where we are being dominated and intimidated by others, we can put our fear in the hands of the Almighty God, and He will give us peace in our hearts that He is in control, not those who think they are.

Heavenly Father, how we praise Your Holy name for the great and precious promise that You will be with us and will help us no matter what situation we are in here in this life. Help us to remember that when things get really tough. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

WHO CAN BE TRUSTED?

Luke 16:10

"Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much."NIV

"He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much."KJV

The true test of integrity is doing the right and honest thing even when no one else is looking. But we can reveal our own true character and spot the true character of others in how they carry out minor little tasks and activities. When we hear that little voice that says, "Oh, it's just a little thing, no one will know, no one will miss it." That is the signal that tests our integrity. How we respond will reveal our true integrity.

Heavenly Father, forgive us for the times we have taken advantage of a small situation for our own gain because we believed it wasn't hurting anyone. You know our hearts and our intents. Give us the courage and strength to have the integrity that our Lord Jesus has. In His name we pray, Amen.

HOW DO WE GET THERE?

Proverbs 3:5,6

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."NIV

"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."KJV

We may have an idea of where we want to go or what we need to be. We will not get there by relying on our own plans and our own reasoning. We will not get there seeking advice from scholars and books. The only way we will get to the place we need to be, is by fully trusting in the Lord. He is faithful to get us to the right place, at the right time, in the right way.

Heavenly Father, forgive us for the many times we think we have the right plans for our lives. Help us to remember that You have already made the path for us to walk and You will lead us on that path until we get to the destination You have for us. We thank You and pray this in Jesus' name, Amen.
