IN THE BEGINNING

Genesis 1:1

"In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." ESV

What is the beginning spoken of here? God has no beginning nor an end; He is eternal. The beginning is when God started what we know as time.

Heavenly Father, our human minds cannot fathom eternity. Help us to stay aware and use wisely the time You set in motion for us in the beginning. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

ONLY BY GOD'S APPOINTMENT

Daniel 2:21

"He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings." ESV

There are times we question or worry about those who are rulers in our world. Sometimes we get too confident in the leaders of our governments and nations. It is wise to remember that God appointed each of them to power because of His almighty plan. He will also remove them from power as He unfolds His purpose for this world. We are to trust God and pray our our leaders. Our God is in control.

Heavenly Father, we thank You that there are no powers on earth that are able to stand against You. Give us peace in our hearts knowing that You are in control of all things and that nothing takes place that is not in Your perfect plan. We pray in Jesus' name, Amen.

WHERE ARE OUR HEARTS?

1 Chronicles 28:9

"And you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father and serve him with a whole heart and with a willing mind, for the Lord searches all hearts and understands every plan and thought. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will cast you off forever." ESV

It is easy for our spiritual gifts from God to become our own. If that happens, our total devotion and intentions of the heart become tainted and our God receives no glory from the very gifts we are given for His use. But God is faithful. He is always monitoring our hearts and prompting us to get our spirits in tune with Him. If we look to Him to do this and obey, He will make Himself known to us. If we continue in our own selfish way, we will be left to our own destructive course.

Heavenly Father, it is so easy to be distracted by the things of this world. Forgive us for letting down our guard and for not seeking You with our whole heart. Help us to stay alert and committed to You and Your way so that we will know You and be found good and faithful servants. We pray in Jesus' name, Amen.

PURE HEART DEPRAVED HEART

Titus 1:15,16
"To the pure, all things are pure, but to the defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure; but both their minds and their consciences are defiled. They profess to know God, but they deny him by their works. They are detestable, disobedient, unfit for any good work." ESV

The pure heart sees things through the eye of God, increasing closeness and confidence in God. The corrupted mind sees things in a self gratifying or perverted way so that sin increases and the sovereignty of God becomes minimized. These people claim to be godly and righteous, but their actions prove that they are imposters. They are cancer to the body of Christ and they hinder those who seek the Truth.

Heavenly Father, we stand in need of purified hearts. Help us to recognize that which is impure within us, to repent, and turn our lives over to you. Give us hunger to seek after the pure things of Your kingdom. We pray in Jesus' name, Amen.

JOY TO OUR ANXIOUS MINDS

Psalm 94:19

"When the cares of my heart are many, your consolations cheer my soul." ESV

There is no question that the levels of anxiety and stress in this world are very high. If we have nothing but the things of this world and other people just as stressed as we are to rely on, we are in a sorry state. For those who know the Lord and have accepted Jesus Christ as their Saviour, there is complete joy and peace in spite of the trials, tribulation, and evil of this world.

Heavenly Father, we praise Your Holy Name for the wonderful joy Your salvation brings to us. Help us to seek out Your consolation through Your Word and fellowship with other believers, so that we will know the joy that awaits us. We pray in Jesus name, Amen.

DAILY GRACE UPDATE 2013

D a i l y G r a c e
January 2013

Hello Daily Grace readers and guests! We are at the beginning of a brand new year. A time when we can make changes in our lives, our work, and our relationships. With Daily Grace, we will be seeing a few changes that after prayerful consideration, will be more reader friendly, more concise, and more efficient. Of course, these changes will in no way affect the traditional Daily Grace purpose, intent, or integrity. Here are a few of the changes we will be seeing:
1. Scripture will now be quoted from the English Standard Version (ESV). The ESV is not a paraphrase. It is a translation from the same original Hebrew and Greek translations as the King James Bible, The New American Standard Bible, The New International Version, and the New King James Version to mention a few. I strongly encourage everyone to check out the ESV origination and it's integrity.
2. There will be a day of rest for Daily Grace, so there will be no Daily Grace mailed out or posted on the website on Sundays. This is a time for all of us to attend the house of worship and engage in our own personal prayer and study of God's Word.

Each of you are a blessing because you all take time to read and reflect on God's Word every day. Taking that time is so critical in this day and time of uncertainty and turmoil. The Daily Grace is available to help provide those moments of time with Him and His word.
Each Daily Grace devotion is original in textual content based on Biblical scriptures. The Word of God builds faith in Christ. Faith leads us to victory over this world and molds us into His likeness. Wherever the Lord leads in the days to come, it is certain that His desire is to prepare us for victory over this world and for us sit at His feet for eternity.

God bless you all richly in the coming year,
Bobbi

"That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him." ESV

PLANS OF THE HEART

Proverbs 16:9

"The plans of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the Lord." ESV

It seems so natural to say to ourselves, "Today I will do this or that," or "next year we plan to do this." It not only seems natural, it is natural. It is a part of our natural man that seeks to satisfy it's own needs and desires. Regardless of what we might plan for our future, it is the Lord God who unfolds His perfect plan for our lives and His glory. Regardless of the state of our hearts, God is still in control of everything.

Heavenly Father, we ask Your forgiveness for making our own plans without taking thought to come to You in prayer asking for Your guidance. Help us to remember that You are in control of all we do and all that happens to us. Bring to our remembrance that Your plan will unfold, no matter what our plan is. We pray in Jesus' name, Amen.
