GOD'S WORD IS INSULATION

Isaiah 51:7

"Listen to me, you who know righteousness, the people in whose heart is my law; fear not the reproach of man, nor be dismayed at their revilings." ESV

If we live by the Spirit, doing what is right in the eyes of the Lord, we are going to be ridiculed by others. If we listen to what the Lord is telling us, we will not be bothered by the talk and attitude of others. We will merely keep walking faithfully with the Lord. He will honor our hearts and he will take care of those who feel free to mock us.

Heavenly Father, we confess that we let the things others say keep us from speaking and living Your Word. Forgive us, Lord. Give us boldness and peace to live every moment with integrity so that we will be fit to walk with You. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

DON'T GO THE WRONG WAY!

Matthew 5:1,2

"Seeing the crowds, he went up on the mountain, and when he sat down, his disciples came to him. And he opened his mouth and taught them saying...." ESV

We are all looking for contentment. The problem is, few look in the right place. What we seek cannot be found in this world. If we want true contentment, the place to look is at the life and teachings of Jesus. But we have to follow Him and listen.

Heavenly Father, we ask you to forgive us for seeking contentment from this world. We know that true contentment comes only from You. We praise You for giving us Your Word and Your Holy Spirit so that we can follow and listen, bringing us joy and peace. In Jesus' name, Amen.

WE KNOW WHERE WE STARTED

Isaiah 51:1

"Listen to me, your who pursue righteousness, you who seek the Lord: look to the rock from which your were hewn, and to the quarry from which your were dug." ESV

For those who are serious about following after righteousness, God says to recall where we were when He called us. He brought us from hopeless conditions from which we could not save ourselves. If we remember what He did for us, we will be more humble, attentive in our walk with Him. He will provide us with compassion and understanding for those who are still stuck in their mud pit.

Heavenly Father, forgive us for forgetting the place where we were wallowing when You rescued us. Help us to keep Your rescue of us in the front of our minds as we come across those who are still struggling. Give us wisdom to know what You would have us do to help them so that they will have reason to rejoice and never forget where they were when You rescued them. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

SHARP EARED SHEEP

John 10:27,28

"But you do not believe because you are not part of my flock. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me." ESV

Do we hear our Lord when He speaks to us? If we are His sheep, we hear Him and by His grace, we live the way He wants for us. How do we, as Christians become sharp eared sheep in His flock and know His voice? We can do this by continually walking in His Spirit, studying His Word, and abiding in His presence through prayer. Then we will recognize His voice, He will know us, and we will follow Him right on into eternal life.

Heavenly Father, the noise of this world so often drowns out what You are saying to us. Anoint our ears and our hearts so that we will stay so close to You, the clamor of this world will fade, and all we will hear is Your voice. We pray in the name of Jesus, Amen.

BUCKETS WITH HOLES

Hebrews 2:1

"We must pay the most careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away." NIV

"Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip." KJV

How many of us are like a bucket with a hole in it or a barrel with cracks between the staves? The Word of God repeatedly tells us to be alert, be on guard. If we become comfortable in our spiritual experience, we are in danger of complacency (being satisfied and unaware of danger), and the spiritual maturity and strength we have received will seep out of us like the bucket with a hole in it. That is a dangerous place to be. It will reveal the true child of God from the imitation.

Heavenly Father, forgive us for letting our guard down. Heal the holes and cracks in our spiritual lives so that we will be true children of Your Kingdom. Give us attentive hearts and make us strong so we can help others do the same. We pray in Jesus' name, Amen.

RESPOND, DON'T REACT

James 1:19

"My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry." (NIV)

"Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath." (KJV)

As humans, it is so easy for us to react to situations with our emotions rather than our spirits. Our emotions cause us to react, which involves no thought on our part. Our spirits allow us to respond, which involves listening to the Holy Spirit, recalling God's Word, and making a conscious choice to act in a Godly way. Are we letting our emotions control us, or are we allowing our spirits, under the control of the Holy Spirit, to direct our actions? Are we reacting or responding?

Heavenly Father, we know that you are aware of the weaknesses in us as humans. We need your help in responding to the difficult and hard things that we encounter in our daily lives. Help us to learn to be responders, listening and choosing to obey the Godly

ways, instead of reacting with our emotions. We pray in Jesus' name. Amen.
