TERRIBLE DAYS

 Timothy 3:1

"But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days." NIV

"This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come." KJV

We have either said or heard others say that difficult things are happening to them and it doesn't seem that it is letting up. Many of the things we think are difficult are merely part of being a part of the human race. There will be a time, when the things that come upon us will be so terrible, the things we experience now will pale in comparison. That is why it is critical that we immerse ourselves in the Word of God, prayer, and fellowship with other believers. Then, until Christ comes for us, we will be able to stand strong and not waver when these difficult times come.

Heavenly Father, O how we thank You that You have given us all we need to stay strong and victorious in the last difficult days. Help us to cling to those things You have provided. Give us unquenchable hunger for Your Word. Draw us to other Christians who earnestly seek You. Give us the will to stand strong in the power of Your might, so that we will be victorious in the difficult and terrible times. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

TURN FROM THE FAITH?

Matthew 24:10

"At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other."NIV

"And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another."KJV

What time is Jesus talking about here? He is talking about the last days just prior to His second coming. All of us are sure that we will not be one of those that fall away and betray fellow Christians. But Jesus said it would happen and He said many would do so. How can this happen? The falling away is not an abrupt waking up one morning and deciding not to follow Christ anymore. It is a slow subtle veering away from the Truth led by smooth talking men and women who call themselves Christians. They will teach enough of the truth to keep us listening while throwing in little bits of Satan's lies that don't seem to be harmful at all. If we stay in the Word of God and prayer, the Holy Spirit will let us know when deception is present. Be on guard. Turning from the faith can happen to any of us who aren't alert.

Heavenly Father, oh how we need discernment and dedication to Your Word. Give us more hunger for Your Word and prayer so that we will be equipped to stand strong and not fall away when the time draws near. We pray in Jesus' name, Amen.

TELL US WHAT WE WANT TO HEAR

2 Timothy 4:3

"For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear."NIV

"For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears."KJV

When the truth steps on our toes, it hurts and we tend to step away or try to explain away why it does not apply to us. If we listen to the truth, we may have to give up some habit or possession. We might have to change our comfortable lives in some way. This is all just too hard, too inconvenient. So instead, we choose to follow so called Christian leaders who gloss over the truth and tell us things that make our comfortable lives stay comfortable. The danger here is that we will think we are growing spiritually when we are only growing more comfortable in our sinful lives. The truth may hurt and disrupt our lives, but it will set us free to grow in Christ and reap an abundant harvest for His kingdom. Most important, following the truth will grant us to stand before our Lord, hearing Him say, "Well done, good and faithful servant."

Heavenly Father, we really do like being in our comfort zone. But we know that the truth will take us out of that zone and into Your will for our lives. Give us the courage and desire to listen and respond to the truth, so that we will grow and be pleasing to You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

SEEK GOD NOW

God's Word is clear that there will be a time when it will be too late
to seek His salvation. The Lord will come and gather those who are
His and the door to eternal life with Him will be closed. Seek Him now.

Read Isaiah 55:6

"Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on Him while he is near."
(NIV)

"Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near."
(KJV)

Read 2 Timothy 3:1

"But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days." (NIV)

"This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come."(KJV)

LAST DAY FRAUDS

It would be wise to study and know God's Word and the warnings given by the men who walked with our Lord. They told us to be aware and ready for seducing men who follow their own ideas and desires and try to get us to follow along with them. They create a religious environment that condones and minimizes sin as if it were nothing at all and produces no remorse or guilt. These people do not have God's Holy Spirit at all. Be on the alert.

Read Jude 17-19

"But dear friends, remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ foretold. They said to you, 'In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires. These are the men who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit.'"
