HIS WAY IS THE HIGHWAY

Isaiah 55:9

"As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts."NIV

"For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts."KJV

It is human nature for us to play out in our minds how the Lord is going to work in our situations. And then we are surprised at how He does it, a way we would never have thought. It shows us that God's ways are much different than ours. How different? His ways are a greater distance than the heavens are from the earth, which by the way, scientist have not been able to measure. When we ask God why, or wonder what He is doing, we can let our faith kick in full and just trust Him. He is in control.

Heavenly Father, forgive us for questioning what You are doing or not doing. Help us to strengthen our faith so that in any situation, although we may not understand, we will know that You are working in Your way, not ours. In Jesus' name, Amen.

HEAVY LOAD

Proverbs 27:3

"Stone is heavy and sand a burden, but a fool's provocation is heavier than both."NIV

"A stone is heavy, and the sand weighty; but a fool's wrath is heavier than them both."KJV

It is much easier to hold up and carry the weight of heavy earthly materials, like sand and stone, than it is to endure and hold up the weight of an unreasonable, irritated person. It is better to walk away than to try and carry that load.

Heavenly Father, first of all, forgive us if we are such that we cause heavy burdens for those around us. Show us where we are wrong and help us to change. Then, help us to forgive and pray for those who do cause heavy burdens and help us to not get weighed down with trying to carry their load. In Jesus' name, Amen.

DEATH TO EARTHLY NATURE

When we were saved, the Lord made us new creatures. Because we are
confined to this earth and to its natural laws, we still have thoughts and
desires that are contrary to God's way. We are told to kill these thoughts and desires, get rid of them, totally. It is our responsibility to do that. No excuses or exceptions. Examples of these sins are sexual thoughts and acts outside the bond of marriage; that which stains our Christian testimony; desiring that which is forbidden; giving in to that which we know is wrong; and being dissatisfied with what we have, always wanting more.

Heavenly Father, grant us strength to put to death all those sins that place us in danger of your displeasure. Help us to take responsibility for our thoughts, feelings, and actions. In Jesus' name.

Read Colossians 3:5

"Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature; sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires, and greed, which is idolatry." (NIV)

"Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry." (KJV)

SPIRITUAL VS NATURAL

As humans, we have five senses with which to gather information
and provide stimulation from our environment. When we allow our
natural senses, on a regular basis, to bring us stimulation that is
displeasing to God, we have chosen our natural desires and the
things of this world to be our gods. Those who have Christ will allow
the Holy Spirit to direct their desires toward Godly and eternal
things.

Read Romans 8:5

"Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on
what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires." (NIV)

"For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but
they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit." (KJV)
