WE'LL ALL GIVE AN ACCOUNT

Romans 14:12

"So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God."NIV

"So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God."KJV

There are times when we find that we blame someone or something outside of ourselves for our acting ungodly. That's human nature. As Christians, we have put off the old nature and put on the nature of God. Therefore, we take responsibility for our actions no matter what. The Bible tells us there is nothing outside of us that makes us act un ungodly ways. The ungodliness was already residing in us waiting for an excuse to come out.

Heavenly Father, forgive us for not taking responsibility for our own actions. Help us to remember that we will all stand before You and give an account for all that we have thought, said, and done that has not been covered by the blood of Jesus Christ. May we live holy lives in Your presence, in Christ's name we pray, Amen.

BLESS AND PRAY FOR ABUSERS

Luke 6:28

"Bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you."NIV

"Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you."KJV

But Lord, are we supposed to just roll over and let people walk all over us and never stand up for ourselves? No. We can walk away and see them for what they are: people trapped in the stronghold of aggression, anger, and hatred. However, we are to pray for them and return good for evil. It takes a mature Christian to do that. To mature as a Christian we are praying without ceasing and staying in the Word whenever we can.

Heavenly Father, forgive us for responding to abusive people with the same attitude they have. It is so hard to stay strong when we are being abused and treated wrongly. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit that we might always respond with the fruit of the Spirit and overcome evil with good. In Jesus' name, Amen.

TRUE ABUNDANCE

John 10:10

"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."NIV

"The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly."KJV

The life of this world and the life God gives are totally different. Anything we obtain from this world is wide open for destruction by the enemy, whether it be material or plans of the mind. Only those things that are brought to the cross of Christ and are according to His plan are safe from the destroyer and will result in true joy and eternal abundance.

Heavenly Father, we get so distracted by the things of this world and by wanting what others have. Forgive us for getting our minds on the things of this world that are temporary. Help us to look to the things of God and build our lives on those things because they will last throughout eternity. We pray in Jesus' name, Amen.

LOVE BRINGS HARMONY

Colossians 3:14

"And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity."NIV

"And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness"KJV

Our Lord tells us that the greatest commandment is love. If we live and breathe God's love, all the other Godly virtues will be present and operating in our lives. If all Christians had love as their priority, what a powerful witness and force for overcoming the evil one and the chaos with which he has filled this world.

Heavenly Father, we ask forgiveness for not allowing love to hold first place in our hearts. We seem to let the things of this world get to us and we respond like the world does. Fill us with Your love and help us to stay in communion with You so that we can overcome this evil world with Your love. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

MATERIAL WORLD

1 John 2:16

"For everything in the world--the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life--comes not from the Father but from the world."NIV

"For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world."KJV

God created us with sensory systems, hormones, and egos so we could experience the world around us and glorify Him for the beautiful creation He made. After the fall, we no longer used these human things to long for our God, see all His beauty, and feel the contentment of being in His presence. Now it's the things of the world for which we long--the things we see, the things that make us feel good, and the things that make us look good. The world became our God. Praise be to God for the gift of His Son that got us back to where we needed to be--longing for Him.

Heavenly Father, forgive us for letting the world get more of us than we give to You. Living in the world makes it effortless to get caught up in wanting the things it has to offer. Give us zeal for the things of God and see the world for what it is, a wasting, lost, and sinful place. We pray in Jesus' name, Amen.

NON-CONFORMISTS

Romans 12:2

"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will."NIV

"And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God."KJV

Each day we live, we are changing. We are being changed by the environment, the world around us, and the things that enter our minds. This is true for all of us. What is also true is that we all have a choice as to what we do with these changes. We can obliviously float along with the world and be like the world in the way we live. Or, we can change the worldliness that hovers all around us and purposefully work to be mindful that we are to be like Christ, not like this world.

Heavenly Father, we need Your grace through the power of the Holy Spirit to transform our minds from the ways of this world so that we will reflect Christ instead of the things of this world. Help us to begin this work now, we pray in the name of Jesus, Amen.

WE ALL FALL SHORT

Romans 3:23

"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."NIV

"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God."KJV

It's a pretty common thing for us to look at the lives of others and tag our opinion on how far from God they are. It is always easy to see where others are going wrong. We react with self righteous disgust when someone of high standing falls into sin and it's made public. Who are we to make any kind of judgment on the sins of others? According to the Word of God, we've all been in the mud pit of sin. Yet while we remember the mud that was washed from us because of Christ, we still turn up our noses at those who still wear the mud. It is the blood of Christ only that covers our own sin.

Heavenly Father, forgive us for forgetting from where we came. Instead of judging others who sin, give us hearts of compassion and desire to show the love of Christ to them, just as other Christian's did for us. We pray in Jesus' name, Amen.
