TRUE UNDERSTANDING AND PERCEIVING

 

Acts 28:26

 

"Go to this people, and say, 'You will indeed hear but never understand, and you will indeed see and never perceive.'" ESV 

 

Those who are alive spiritually will hear God speaking through the Word and by the Holy Spirit. So many people believe they can hear God, but they don't know Him at all, nor can they truly hear His voice. They miss the marvelous things God does because their hearts are hardened and they refuse to believe the truth.

 

Lord, we thank You that You have made a way for us to hear You leading us through Your Word. We ask for the Holy Spirit to keep us attuned to Your Word. In Your name we pray, Amen.

THE BLOOD AND THE EARS OF THE LORD NEVER FAIL

 

Isaiah 59:1

 

"Behold, the Lord's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save, or his ear dull, that it cannot hear." ESV 

 

Some people believe that their lives are so far into sin that they can never be saved. There is no sin that the blood of Jesus Christ cannot cleanse. Some people believe the Lord does not listen to their prayers or does not care. Every prayer that is spoken from the heart to the Lord Jesus Christ is answered. His answer may not be what we had expected, but it will be answered. His blood cleanses, His ears hear and move Him to answer.

 

Lord, we give You praise for Your precious and powerful blood that covers all sin. We thank You for hearing all our prayers and for answering them in Your time and in Your way. In Your gracious name we pray, Amen.

LIVING THE WORD

 

Matthew 7:24

 

"Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock." ESV 

 

Do we truly realize how critical it is to know the words of Jesus Christ and to understand His words are the key to standing steadfast in the most turbulent times of our lives? Jesus told us we are not only to listen to them, but live in them so that they become part of us. Then we will have His strength to stand victoriously when the storms of life come.

 

Lord Jesus, forgive us for not taking Your words to heart and failing to live them day to day. We pray for earnest desire to know Your words and to put them into practice. In Your name, Amen.

INFERTILITY OF THE CHRISTIAN LIFE

James 1:22 "But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves." ESV 

 

Listening to the Word of God brings faith. But that is only the beginning. If we listen only and stop there, we have faith with no fruit. The deception is like the fig tree that had no fruit. Jesus cursed that tree, it was useless. So it is with our faith. True faith will produce fruit. A tree bearing fruit is an active process that can be seen and others benefit and are fed from it.

 

Heavenly Father, by Your grace and mercy, convict our hearts of being hearers of Your Word only. Put an unquenchable desire in us to grow in faith and produce fruit so that others can feed on Your awesomeness and gift of salvation. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

PERFECT NAVIGATION SYSTEM

Isaiah 30:21 "And your ears shall hear a word behind you saying, 'This is the way, walk in it,' when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left." ESV 

 

If we are trusting the Lord in spite of trials and bitter circumstances, He will let us recognize His voice. If may be through His Word, or through those who are wise in His Word. If might be through that still small voice within or through our circumstances. No matter where we are, we will be able to hear God's voice directing our steps.

 

Heavenly Father, give us the grace we need to trust and wait for Your direction. Help us to hear Your voice whenever and however You speak. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

LISTEN AND LIVE

Revelation 2:7   "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who conquers I will grant to eat of the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God." ESV   Salvation is the free gift of God through faith in Christ Jesus. However, it is our walk through this world of time on earth that shows whether we have truly accepted that free gift. If we overcome the obstacles and trials lying in our path, we will be counted as the true believers and live forever with Him.   Heavenly Father, how we stand in need of Your forgiveness for allowing ourselves to be overcome by the things of this world. We pray for the fullness of Your Holy Spirit that we will be armed and ready to overcome whatever this world puts in our way. SHARP EARED SHEEP

John 10:27,28   "But you do not believe because you are not part of my flock. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me." ESV   Do we hear our Lord when He speaks to us? If we are His sheep, we hear Him and by His grace, we live the way He wants for us. How do we, as Christians become sharp eared sheep in His flock and know His voice? We can do this by continually walking in His Spirit, studying His Word, and abiding in His presence through prayer. Then we will recognize His voice, He will know us, and we will follow Him right on into eternal life.   Heavenly Father, the noise of this world so often drowns out what You are saying to us. Anoint our ears and our hearts so that we will stay so close to You, the clamor of this world will fade, and all we will hear is Your voice. WOULD YOU GET THE DOOR PLEASE

 

 

Revelation 3:20

"Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me." ESV

Haven't we all wondered at times where our peace and closeness with God has gone? After all, He is right at our heart's door waiting for us to answer. This seems to be the place we have gotten off track. Obviously, we have let the things of this world get in the way of our peace and communion with Him. If we acknowledge we have done this, confess this sin, and open our hearts, we will again have the perfect peace and communion with our God we seek.

Heavenly Father, we know that You never change and that You are always right at our heart's door. We confess that we are the ones who constantly change and allow the things of this world to rob us of our peace and communion with You. We pray for the hunger for more of You to be the focus of our lives and that we will dwell in Your peace. We pray in Jesus' name, Amen.

KNOW HIM AS HE KNOWS US

 

John 10:14

"I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me." NIV

"I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine." KJV

A newborn baby learns it's mother's voice before it learns anything else. We recognize our loved ones by being familiar with them and their ways. We can only become familiar and know our Lord Jesus Christ when we spend time with Him and get to know Him in an intimate way. If we fail to do this, we will be deceived by others who seem to have the right answers. Only Jesus Christ will get us to eternal life, through Him. And that is only by knowing His voice and following only Him.

Heavenly Father, give us the hunger to make ourselves available to have communion with You so that we have intimate knowledge of You. Keep us aware of other voices in the world that sound good, but lead to destruction. Help us to hear and know Your voice so that we can be with You for eternity. In Jesus' name, Amen.
