SWORD OF THE SPIRIT

Ephesians 6:17

"Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God." NIV

"And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God." KJV

A sword that rests in its scabbard is useless for battle. Likewise, the Bible collecting dust on the mantle is useless. Jesus used the Word of God to overcome Satan in the wilderness because He made it a priority to know the Word and have it ready in His heart and mind. We must do the same. Hide the Word in our hearts daily and keep the sword in hand, ready to throw down the evil attacks of the enemy.

Heavenly Father, give us greater hunger for the Word of God. Help us to hide it in our hearts and stand ready to use it when the enemy comes lurking and seeking to destroy us. With the Word of God, we have the weapon that cannot be conquered. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
