EARNESTLY DESIRE SPIRITUAL NOURISHMENT

1 Peter 2:2

"Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation." NIV

"As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby." KJV

As true children of God, we have within us a strong desire to be nourished with the truths of God's Word, so we will mature and be healthy spiritually. We are all at different stages of spiritual development and some grow faster than others. But we all need to keep growing because none of us have reached perfection. If we examine ourselves, can we be content with our level of hunger and longing for the pure truth of God's Word knowing we are growing spiritually from it? Are we hungry enough to delve deeper into the Word, so that the Holy Spirit will reveal more and more of the precious things of God to us? Do we take time to get into the Word of God so that it's rich revelation of our God can penetrate into our souls and make us grow? Our personal answers to these questions will let us know what we need to do.

Heavenly Father, how gracious and merciful You are to so readily provide the Word of God that we might have access to it at any time. How thankful we are that Your Word contains all we need to live lives that are pleasing to You and draw others to You. We thank You for giving us time each day to get into Your Word so that it will sink deep into our souls and nourish our spirits. Forgive us Lord, for running past these wonderful opportunities to grow by getting into Your Word. Increase our hunger, give us understanding that we are ready to take responsibility for, and help us to reorganize our time to make reading the Word of God a priority in our lives. We pray in Jesus' name, Amen.
