Philippians
4:6
"Do not be
anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with
thanksgiving, present your requests to God." NIV
"Be careful
for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let
your requests be made known unto God." KJV
How many times
have we found ourselves minutes, hours, or even days into worrying about a
matter before we realize we have been wasting precious energy on anxiety? At the
moment an anxious thought, or troubling situation arises, we can go directly to
the throne of grace and let our God know about it. He will comfort us and give
us peace, so we will know He is taking care of it for us. After all, He is in
control of all things, and nothing is impossible for Him.
Heavenly Father,
forgive us for worrying and fretting over things. Help us to come instantly to
You when we become anxious about a matter. Increase our faith as we seek You to
take care of those things that bother us and keep us upset. We praise You for
Your peace and comfort You lavishly pour out on us when we come to You. In
Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

BORROWING WORRY
Mathew
6:34
"Therefore,
do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has
enough trouble of its own." NIV
"Take
therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the
things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof."
KJV
Are we fretting
over something that cannot be resolved today? Do we become anxious about how
things are going to turn out in the future or if things will turn out at all? If
we will stay focused on the things we need to take care of today, the things
over which we have control, God will take care of tomorrow. He wants us to keep
looking to Him and growing in Him while He takes care of the things in our lives
that might otherwise keep us in a state of worry.
Heavenly Father,
we thank You and praise You that Your are the God who holds tomorrow in His
loving hands. Forgive us for doubting and forgetting that. Show us what we need
to be doing today and help us take care of those things. Help us leave the rest
to You. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

WONDERFUL PEACE
John
14:27
"Peace I
leave with you, my peace I give you, I do not give to you as the world gives. Do
not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." NIV
"Peace I
leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto
you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."
KJV
Peace! What is
that? In this world the best we can hope for is a little quiet time from the
noise and clamor. Jesus gives us His peace. This is a peace that cannot come
from anywhere but Him and He has lavishly poured it out on us because He loves
us. However, we have to accept it with humble hearts and gratitude. Then we will
be able to experience that awesome peace within that never hides or goes away no
matter what is going on around us. If we keep our eyes on Him and acknowledge
His peace within us, all our fears and inner struggles will fade away. The power
and presence of His peace will guard us and keep us in Him. In Him, there is
love, peace, and joy.
Heavenly Father,
we seem to let the troubles of this world overpower our hearts and minds, and we
worry and fret about tomorrow. Forgive us for not accepting Your gracious gift
of peace that You long for us to have. Clear our minds of the clatter and fears
of this world and help us soak up Your wonderful peace, so that it will rule in
our hearts, not fear and worries. In Jesus' holy name we pray,
Amen.

PLANTED CLOSE TO THE SOURCE

Water is the vital source of life for a tree planted near its' banks where
nutrients and refreshment are available through any type of weather, mild or harsh. Likewise, the Lord is absolutely trustworthy as our source of life and renewal through any circumstances we might encounter. Plant yourself close to Him.
Read Jeremiah 17:7,8
"But blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in
Him. He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots
by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always
green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit." (NIV)
"Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit." (KJV)
