WHAT'S IN A NAME?

Proverbs 18:10

"The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous man runs into it and is safe." ESV

The Lord's name is all we need to be safe and secure from any harm. The demons shudder and flee at the name of Jesus. His name is like an indestructible tower.

Lord, we praise You for Your name that we can run to at any time and be assured of safety. Help us to always reverence Your name, we pray, Amen.

WIMPY SPIRITED PEOPLE

Ephesians 6:10

"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might." ESV

If we don't keep our bodies strong by physical exertion and healthy habits, we will be weak and fail the test of physical strength when it presents itself. Likewise, if we don't stay strong spiritually by prayer, study of His Word, and fellowship with believers, we will fail the test of spiritual faith that we will surely need at any given moment. Worse yet, we will be trampled over, deceived, and eternally defeated. His living power keeps our spirits strong. He tells us to be strong. The responsibility is ours.

Lord Jesus, forgive us for failing to stay strong in our spirits. Help us to be sensitive to those opportunities You provide to us that will strengthen us. Discipline us so that we will be found strong and walking in Your power when You return. In Your name we pray, Amen.

IT'S NOT OUR PROBLEM

2 Chronicles 20:17

"You will not need to fight this battle. Stand firm, hold your position, and see the salvation of the Lord on your behalf, O Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed. Tomorrow go out against them, and the Lord will be with you." ESV

As humans, we seem to fret and worry about how we are going to get through this trial, over this loss, or free of this bondage. As true Christians, we don't have to worry and fret at all. The Lord has told us to stop worrying and just give all of it over to Him and He will take care of it perfectly. He takes on our struggles as His own, while asking us to just trust Him to work it out for us.

Heavenly Father, forgive us for using so much of our time and energy worrying and fretting about things. Open our spiritual eyes to see that these things are not our battles, but Yours. Show us how to let go of them so that You can take care of them like You told us You would. We praise You for that. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
