2 Corinthians
4:6,7
"For God,
who said, 'Let light shine out of darkness,' made his light shine in our hearts
to give us the light of the knowledge of God's glory displayed in the face of
Christ. But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all
surpassing power is from God and not from us." NIV
"For God,
who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to
give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power
may be of God, and not of us." KJV
Do we really get
the magnitude of how privileged we are that God has given us this treasure of
the knowledge of His glory? He lavishly gave us this light by His mighty power
and love through the Holy Spirit. Could we just meditate on that for a moment?
Having been given this wonderful treasure, our lives will be evident of it and
there will be something different about us the world doesn't understand. God
knew we might get proud of this glorious treasure we carry, so He allows us to
carry this treasure in our cursed, human bodies. This way, there's no mistaking
that it is not anything we have done, but what our all powerful and loving God
has done through us and for us.
Heavenly Father,
we praise and magnify Your name! Let us take this wonderful treasure You have
given us and use it to draw all men to You. Make it evident to every unbelieving
heart, that it is You, O God, and not anything we could possibly conjure up. Be
glorified in us, we ask in the name of Jesus, Amen.
