FREEDOM FROM THIS, TO DO THAT

1 Peter 2:16

"Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God." ESV

Usually when we think of freedom, we think of the ability to be able to do whatever we want to do. That is not freedom, that is license. The freedom we have in Christ is twofold: He has set us free from the stronghold, bondage, slavery of sin. Sin no longer has a hold on us. Therefore, we are free to say no to sin, resist temptation, and to keep control over our bodies and minds. True freedom is being able to do what we know is right. Then when we lay our heads down on our pillows at night, we have peace, free of guilt.

Heavenly Father, we cannot thank You enough for the price You paid to set us free. Forgive us for taking advantage of that freedom and using it as a license to do whatever we want. Help us to understand true freedom in Christ. We pray in His precious name, Amen.

HOW SHOULD WE LOOK TO OTHERS?

1 Corinthians 4:1

This, then, is how you ought to regard us: as servants of Christ and as those entrusted with the mysteries God has revealed." NIV

"Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God." KJV

God tells in many times in His Word that we are a separate people from the world. Being different is not such a popular things these days. When a new car or some electronic device comes out, millions flock to stores and stand in line to have them. As children of God, we may or may not have all the latest posessions, but unlike the people of this world, we will be Biblically knowledgeable, speaking His truth with wisdom, and serving others in Christlike ways that without a doubt set us apart from those of this world. How do we look to the people of this world? Are we set apart, different than the rest of the world?

Heavenly Father, so many times we fail to follow Your Word and we blend right in with worldliness. Forgive us. Give us an ever increasing desire to be servants of our Lord and handle the Truth of the Word so that we will stand apart as Your children to the rest of the world. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
