WHY CAN'T I PLANT CORN AND GET WHEAT?

  Obadiah 1:15
"For the day of the Lord is near upon all the nations. As you have done, it shall be done to you; your deeds shall return on your own head." ESV

The law of sowing and reaping has been in effect since from eternity. We can see it in the history of God's people in both the Old and New Testaments. Our thoughts, words, and actions that are without repentance and are unforgiven will come back to us in ways we regret. If we are careful and discerning about the seeds we sow, we won't need to worry about the harvest we will reap.

Heavenly Father, please help us be aware of our thoughts, words, and actions. Let them be pleasing to You and uplifting to others. Help us to plant good seeds to that we will welcome the harvest we reap and glorify You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

KEEP ON KEEPING ON

Galatians 6:9

"And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up." ESV

Exerting time and energy to do God's work can be very tiresome, especially if we never get acknowledged or rewarded for our efforts. When snags get in our way, we use even more time and energy that wears on us. If we are feeling tired and weary, we can take heart. Refreshing ourselves in His promises will give us new energy to keep going and reap the harvest.

Heavenly Father, we ask for Your unending grace to keep going in this battle against evil. Show us how to be refreshed from the promises in Your Word. Let the harvest be plentiful. We pray in Jesus' name, Amen.

GROWING WEARY

Galatians 6:9

"And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up." ESV

Growth is a process that happens from a starting point and increases in stages until full growth is achieved. If we have repented of our sins and have accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour, we will by His nature, be doing those things that are good. Being human, the enemy of our soul will plant seeds of doubt into our minds when we do not see the fruits of our efforts. We tend to allow those seeds of doubt to grow until we become weary and decide it's not producing anything worthwhile. Our next likely step is to just give up. This is not God's will for us. It is up to us to overcome those doubts by the power of the Holy Spirit. Then we can keep doing good and, in time, see that we were making ready a harvest for His kingdom.

Heavenly Father, we ask Your forgiveness for those times we have allowed doubt to cause us to give up. Help us to nourish our faith to be able to overcome the doubts that nag at us. Give us determination and yielding to the Holy Spirit, so that we will not give up. We pray in Jesus' name, Amen.
