NO BIG DEAL?

Isaiah 57:11

"Whom did you dread and fear, so that you lied, and did not remember me, did not lay it to heart? Have I not held my peace, even for a long time, and you do not fear me?"

It may seem that God is silent, sitting way up in the sky, taking it easy, just loving everyone and being all right with whatever they do. Wake up! God is very watchful and waiting for as many who will, to come to know Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. God sees that some of us have become lazy in our Christian lives, shirking responsibilities, compromising with the world, and becoming diluted in our faith. God will not remain silent. He will call us to give an account by using the standards He set for us through Jesus Christ.

Heavenly Father, we bow on our faces in humility and desperate need for Your forgiveness of our complacency as Christians. Give us that discernment we need to sense the urgency of Your return and how we need to reach everyone we can with the Gospel. We pray in the blessed name of Jesus, Amen.

ARE WE BEING CHRISTLIKE?

1 Thessalonians 5:14

"And we urge you brothers, admonish the idle, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with them all." ESV

Rather than condemn and criticize others, we are instructed to act in love and patience to those who are struggling and going astray. We show this love and patience by walking the path our Lord walked and doing the works He did.

Heavenly Father, again we ask for forgiveness for our lack of patience for those who are not living the Christian life the way You have instructed us. We, too, have failed. Give us grace and a strong desire to walk like Jesus did, so that we will fulfill Your Word and help others along in their Christian walk. We pray in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.

LOVE, UNITY, AND PEACE

Ephesians 4:2

"With all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love." ESV

So many things in this life are unfair and it is a challenge to interact with difficult people. If we are walking in the Spirit of the Lord, we will be able to put our natural feelings of superiority, resentment, and impatience aside. We will allow His Spirit to work through us and make us peacemakers.

Heavenly Father, O how we seek to be gracious and merciful to others as You are to us. Forgive us for lacking patience and humility when others grate on our nerves. Help us to remember that we are someone else's challenge. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen.

WAITING AND WAITING AND WAITING

Psalm 130:5

"I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I put my hope." (NIV)

"I wait for the LORD, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope." (KJV)

Patience is a natural product of faith. It is much easier to wait when we are confident God will not disappoint us. So many things test our faith every day. But true faith will stay strong under the heaviest of burdens and trials. If we remember how long the Lord waited for us, and still waits for us, we will gladly wait patiently for Him.

Heavenly Father, forgive us for not allowing our faith to mature so that it produces the patience we need to wait on You. Help us Lord, to stand strong in our faith so that nothing in this world can cause us to waiver and lose hope. Thank you for hearing us. We pray in Jesus' name, Amen.

HOW TO GET GOD'S ATTENTION

Psalm 40:1

"I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry." NIV

"I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry." KJV

The ways of the world teach us from a young age that the 'squeaky wheel gets the grease.' Whoever yells the loudest gets heard. When we become Christians, we tend to carry this worldly teaching with us and expect God to answer us when we wail with tears and loud prayers, falling on the floor, and shouting our needs to Him. Then we become disappointed when the answer is not here as soon as the request leaves our mouths. That kind of intense praying is not wrong. There are times when we are in such critical urgent need, we should cry out to Him with all our being. Most often, though, God will turn and attend to us when we wait patiently with quiet trust for Him to answer.

Heavenly Father, forgive us for expecting the world's ways from You and expecting You to jump at each request we bring to You and deliver immediate response to our needs. Help us to wait with gentle patience when we bring our petitions to You, because we know Your timing is perfect. We pray in Jesus' name, Amen.

ULTRA STRENGTH ENDURANCE

Colossians 1:11

"Being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience." NIV

"Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and long suffering with joyfulness." KJV

We have a certain amount of confidence in products who's names begin with mega-, super-, extra-, and ultra-. It's like those products contain something special and more powerful than an average product. We can't really put any of these in front of the power of God, because nothing can be more powerful, nor added to the almighty power of God. What is so amazing is that God makes His power available to us for the asking so that we can stay in the race, carry on in this battle, and fight the good fight until He gets us to eternity with Him. Now there is no excuse to give up. Our own power will get us nowhere. His power will take us all the way.

Heavenly Father, we magnify and glorify You for Your awesome power that You so freely give us to keep going in this spiritual battle that often times tries to consume us. Keep us firmly engulfed in Your power and not relying on our own power to get us to the finish line. We pray this in the mighty name of Jesus our Lord, Amen.

FASHION STATEMENT

Colossians 3:12

"Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience." NIV

"Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, and longsuffering." KJV

We can tell a lot about people by the clothes they wear. So many different styles and ways to dress. One thing for sure, most people wear clothing and would be embarrassed or arrested if they were caught naked. If we stop for a minute and look at the spiritual world, many people, including Christians, are spiritually naked. They don't seem to be concerned about it at all. God expects His people to be fully clothed spiritually so that we won't be ashamed when we represent Him to the lost in this world. The greatest spiritual fashion statement a Christian can make is being compassionate, kind, humble, gentle, and patient. These things never go out of style and look holy and majestic to our Lord.

Heavenly Father, forgive us for neglecting to dress spiritually appropriate. Search us and reveal to us the spiritual clothes we wear. Help us to never be naked of those things that You consider holy and pleasing in Your sight. Help us to be aware of how we dress spiritually and make us pleasing in Your sight. In Jesus' name, Amen.

FUELED WITH POWER AND PATIENCE

Colossians 1:11

"Being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience." NIV

"Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and long suffering with joyfulness." KJV

We can think of times when we have worked a very hard day and with our weary bodies we lie down to a good night's sleep. When we wake up, we feel refreshed and strengthened. Just imagine how we can feel when we allow God to strengthen our weary spirits with His mighty power. Yes, God longs to make us strong by His all powerful strength. His Word tells us He does this so that we will meet every day in this evil world with more energy and patience.

Heavenly Father, we cannot fathom the power that dwells with You that is all power. We stand in need of strength to stand against the trials and problems this world throws our way. Forgive us for wanting to give up and sit back in defeat. Give us strength to endure with patience and joy through Your almighty power. We ask in the name of Jesus, Amen.

LOVE IS

1 Corinthians 13:4

"Love is patient,....." NIV

"Charity suffereth long,......"KJV

Most of us have hear the advice from others saying, "Don't pray for patience because you will be tested beyond belief." However, patience is something that makes love possible. Without patience we cannot truly love unconditionally. When we love someone, we will exercise patience with them instead of pushing or criticizing them to hurry in our own time frame. Our Lord has such patience with us that He waits for us to come to Him for salvation, for our needs, and for all that we desire. We are to be like Him.

Heavenly Father, forgive us for our impatience toward others. We try to set our own time schedules and we become irritable if others do not follow it. Give us grace and patience like our Lord has so that we will bring glory to Him and show love to those who need us to be patient. In Jesus' precious name we pray, Amen.

WARN, ENCOURAGE, HELP, WITH PATIENCE

1 Thessalonians 5:14

"And we urge you, brothers and sisters, warn those who are idle and disruptive, encourage the disheartened, help the weak, be patient with everyone."NIV

"Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men."KJV

We are called on to take action toward those who are struggling in the faith. Before we can do that, we will need to examine our own lives to see if we are lacking in our walk with the Lord. Then, it will take much prayer and communion with the Lord, asking daily for the fullness and leading of the Holy Spirit to be able to do these things that are asked of us. There are always going to be lazy, boisterous, depressed, and weak people. And patience is a difficult spiritual fruit to practice. It helps if we remember that we were at one time or another, one of those people who needed someone to be patient with us.

Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ fulfilled all these things expected of us toward others. Search our hearts and if we fall short, help us to mature in these areas. Help us to remember from where we came just prior and after we became Christians. Give us the mind of Christ and fullness of His Spirit so that we can help others who are struggling and do it with patience. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

PERSEVERENCE

Trials and tribulations test and strengthen our faith. The measure of our faith determines how much patience we have, how much we can persevere. If we are able to persevere through all trials and tribulations, we will be mature and complete in Christ.

Heavenly Father, how thankful we are that you give each of us
a measure of faith. We pray you will help of persevere through
the trials and tribulations we face in this world so that we may
be complete in Christ. In Jesus' name.

Read James 1:4

"Perseverance must finish it's work so that you may be mature
and complete, not lacking anything." (NIV)

"But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect
and entire, wanting nothing." (KJV)

WAIT PATIENTLY

We all face enormous trials and struggles. Sometimes we wonder where
God is. We need to stop wondering and start seeking Him. It is a most
satisfying exercise that will give us strength to wait. God delights in and
blesses those who hope in, seek Him, and wait with peaceful trust that He will deliver.

Father in Heaven, we are in need of your grace and mercy to help us wait for you and trust you. Give us this strength today; In Jesus name.

Read Lamentations 3:25,26

"The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him; it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord." (NIV)

"The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him. It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD." (KJV)

WISDOM BEGETS PATIENCE

Wisdom is the ability to apply knowledge in an insightful, true, and
discerning way. When we have wisdom and trying situations come
our way, we can endure them with peace and confidence that God
is working out His plan. We can let many disturbing offenses roll off
our backs. God is pleased with that.

Read Proverbs 19:11

"A man's wisdom gives him patience; it is to his glory to overlook an
offense." (NIV)

"The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression." (KJV)

PERSEVERE

Because living in this world is difficult, hurtful, and wearisome, it
is easy for us to become lax, complacent, or weak in our Christian
walk. Rather than focusing on how bad things are and questioning
God, it will be to our advantage to keep ourselves in God's hands,
trusting Him. Perseverance will insure that we receive the rewards
God has for us.

Read Hebrews 10:35,36

"So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded.
You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God,
you will receive what he has promised." (NIV)

"Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence
of reward. For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the
will of God, ye might receive the promise." (KJV)

HOW IS YOUR CHRISTIAN TESTIMONY?

Rather than condemn and criticize others, we are instructed to act in love and patience to those who are struggling and going astray. We show this love and patience by warning, encouraging, and helping.

Read 1 Thessalonians 5:14

"And we urge you, brothers, warn those who are idle, encourage
the timid, help the weak, be patient with everyone." (NIV)

"Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the
feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men." (KJV)
