BY THE WAY, LORD, CAN I HAVE MY PRAYER ANSWERED NOW?

Romans 4:17

". . .in the presence of the God in whom he believed, who gives life to the dead and calls into existence the things that do not exist." ESV

People have always been intrigued by magic and miracles. People who gravitate and put their trust in magic are those who want instant answers and a showy display of amazement. After all, we are an "instant" society where things are done by the touch of a button. If we pray and do not get our desired answer immediately, we get disappointed and "faith disabled." If we are walking in the Spirit of Truth, we will know the miraculous workings of God and we will wait with faith and anticipation for His answers to our prayers.

Lord, You are the One who created all things and who has all things ordered to play out in time. Forgive us for getting caught up in the spirit of this world where we miss Your mighty works because we are looking for instant and glorious answers right now. Help us to stay focused on You and Your plan for us, so that we will not focus on what we want. In Your gracious name we pray, Amen.

HE'S STILL DOING IT

Habakkuk 3:2

"O Lord, I have heard the report of you, and your work, O Lord, do I fear. In the midst of the years revive it; in the midst of the years make it known; in wrath remember mercy." ESV

When we read and learn of the powerful miracles God did in the Bible days, we are amazed and inspired. We wonder why we do not see the same kinds of miracles in our time. Our God never changes. He continues to do incredible miracles every day, but we do not notice because we are distracted by the things of this world; our spiritual eyes have been dulled because we look at what we see with our natural eyes and attach worldly meaning to them.

Heavenly Father, how we praise You and give You glory and honor for the mighty miracles You have done for Your people. Forgive us for allowing our spiritual senses to become dulled by this world, so that we do not see the incredible miracles You do every day all around us. Open our spiritual eyes and our hearts, help us to discern the works of Your hands and not be influenced by the things of this world. We pray in the name of Jesus our Lord, Amen.

AMAZED

Luke 9:43

"And they were all amazed at the greatness of God." NIV

"And they were all amazed at the mighty power of God." KJV

When Jesus walked the earth, he spent much time with the people, teaching them and performing amazing miracles in their sight. The many extraordinary things that He did made the people look on in amazement. If it weren't for the fact that they saw these things with their own eyes they might not have believed them. What about us today? We are not first hand witnesses to the mighty things Jesus did while He was here on this earth. How can we believe that He really did such things? We didn't see these things with our own eyes. For those who are alive spiritually and look with spiritual eyes, many more amazing miracles are happening around us every day. Some will call them coincidences. Some will completely overlook them and take no notice at all. As Christians, we have the privilege to witness, by faith, through the Spirit, the wonderful workings of our God.

Heavenly Father, how blessed we are to watch and see the marvelous things You do around us every day. Those who lived in Jesus' time and saw first hand were amazed. Today, we are even more amazed at the might power of miraculous things You work each day in us and around us. We humbly praise You and thank You for this. In Jesus' name, Amen.
