FAMILY RESEMBLENCE

Romans 8:16 "The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God." ESV

As humans, we all belong to a family bloodline. Each family has a bloodline that identifies the members as belonging to that family. Each family member has the bloodline in them. Most of the time, others can identify a person as belonging to a particular family due to various physical characteristics and temperaments. As Christians, we belong to the family of God. We are connected by the Holy Spirit, given by God at salvation. Others will be able to tell if we belong to the family of God by our lifestyles and our words. How many of us can be recognized as belonging to the family of God?

Heavenly Father, how great is Your love for us that You would make us a part of Your family. We pray that we will live our lives with unquestionable proof by our behaviors and words that we are Your children. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

LIVE UP TO OUR MATURITY IN CHRIST

Philippians 3:16

"Only let us live up to what we have already attained." NIV

"Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing." KJV

As Christians, we hunger for more of God, to know Him more, to be more like Him. That is a normal desire for true Christians. Sometimes we try so hard or go beyond what the Lord has revealed to us, and we stumble and fall. We fail to walk in the light we have been given thus far in our spiritual walk. We are strongly directed in the Word to make sure we live in the spiritual light we have already been given and keep going forward.

Heavenly Father, we probably look like small children trying to wear adult shoes in the way we live our spiritual lives. Forgive us. Help us to be aware of where we are in our walk with You and to live up to that before we try running ahead and stumbling. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

SAME LOVE FOR ALL

Jesus tells us in the Word that we are to imitate the love of
God by showing the same love to our enemies. He showed
His love to us when we were His enemies. He brings to all,
the good and the bad, sunshine and rain to bring bountiful
harvest in the earth. We are called to be like Him.

Heavenly Father, only by your grace can we love those who
are unlovable. We desire to be like you and accept your grace
to love both good and ungodly people. In Jesus' name.

Read Matthew 5:45

"...that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes
His sun to rise on the evil and the good; and sends rain on the
righteous and the unrighteous." (NIV)

"That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven:
for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and
sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust." (KJV)
