GIVING IT ALL UP

Philippians 2:5-8

"Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature, God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient in death--even death on a cross." NIV

"Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross." KJV

Would we be willing to walk away from everything we own, all our families, our careers, and our very identity, to go far away and become a humble servant? God does not usually make that requirement of us. It was not a requirement for Jesus Christ either, but He willingly did it because of His love for us. What the Lord does require of us is to give up our right to ourselves and give Him full rights to use us as He sees fit. If Jesus Christ gave up the glory of the eternal Godhead and became one of us, we should be able to fully trust Him with control of our lives.

Heavenly Father, we are such selfish creatures that we hold on to the little empires we have built for ourselves. We reserve the right to be in control of our own lives. Forgive us, Lord. Fill our hearts and minds with the wisdom that assures us You will take care of our lives and show us things too amazing for words. Help us to have the attitude that Jesus had. We pray in the name of Jesus, Amen.

Awesome questions to ask self today! Would I give up "all"...would I become truly a bondservant unto him...giving up all choice to but one choice and that is to have no choice and to allow him to be the Divine Decider of all my life....down to "what's for breakfast"...if I allow him to choose for me...then Dr.Pepper and donuts shall not be on the menu, that cigarette would not be a habit, the beer, wine will not be on the menu or the practice of the day ...the rude mouth, bad attitude, or evil thoughts shall cease, and make way for words of kindess, gentlness a meekness and pure holy thoughts....excellent excellent post this morning.....
