IF......THEN

John 15:7

"If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you." NIV

"If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you." KJV

When we pray and there doesn't seem to be an answer, there may not be. Are we staying true to our Lord and Savior? Are we obeying His Word? If we are, we will be asking according to His will and He will give us whatever we ask. Let's check our relationship with he Lord and review our motives for asking.

Heavenly Father, please help us to examine ourselves so that we may be found abiding in You and holding fast to your Word. Not only that our prayers will be answered, but we ask this so that we may become more like you. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Oh at the many times I have "asked" and did not receive b/c I was asking outside of God's Will for my life...those things that I received not would have been painful or used wrongly. To many times we ask of the Father a fleshly lustful thing and seek to find self pleasure...I agree we need to check our motive for wanting the "thing" we prayed for..
Will the thing we desire promote more self life or will it promote the goodness of God and radiate his love for others to witness

If we abide in Him, we can ask for anything and it will be given. Maybe (usually) it will not be given in the manner---or the time frame---that we imagined.

Good advice, Dr. Bobbi. It is easy to get off on the wrong track and ask for things out of selfishness and not according to His will. Your prayer is mine as well.
Blessings,
Charlotte
