Matthew 6:27
"Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his
life?" NIV
"Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto
his stature?" KJV
What are those things that keep replaying in our minds,
keeping us worried and concerned? Each of us likely has
something on our minds. Jesus tells us in the Gospels to
'worry not.' The apostles repeat it again in the letters to
'be anxious for nothing.' Why, then, do we continue to
worry? We have not taken those things that stress and
worry us to the throne of God and we have not left them
there. If we do this now, leave our worries with Him, we
will have relief from the stress and anxiety. Worry is a
sidetrack, a distraction, from hearing and seeing God
working in and around us.
Heavenly Father, forgive us for taking the things of this
world that trouble us and allowing them to get us stressed
and worried. Forgive us for not leaving these these in your
hands, for we know that you can take care of them much
better than we can. Help us, Lord, to leave our worries
and concerns with You, so that we will be alert and ready
to stand firm against the evil one and to lead other to You.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
