HIS ETERNAL WORD

Psalm 119:89

"Your Word, O Lord, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens." NIV

"Forever, O Lord, thy Word is settled in heaven." KJV

How do we know what God's actual words are? He spoke them to men inspired by the Holy Spirit, to be written down as a permanent record for all generations. God desires all of us to know His Word and this is the way He chose. From the time He spoke "Let there be light," His words have remained in the endless space of the universe and in our hearts. His Word is set, never to be revoked or changed. It is fresh and never out of date. It will be the measure by which we all are judged. We are to conform to His Word and never try to make His Word fit our own agendas.

Heavenly Father, we praise and magnify Your name that You have given us Your Word so that have a solid base to know how You would have us live in this world. Give us a greater hunger for Your Word and help us to hide it in our hearts. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

ASK FOR ANYTHING MY CHILD

John 14:14

"You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it." NIV

"If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it." KJV

If a teenager from down the street came knocking at our door and asked us to give him a car so he wouldn't have to walk, would we gladly get a car and give it to him? Of course not. He isn't one of our children and we are not responsible for him. It is the same with God when He says He will give us whatever we ask in His name. He is talking to His children. Those who have given their hearts and lives to Him. Nominal Christians and the unsaved call on God when they are in trouble. When they don't get what they ask for, they are insulted and blame God. But they are not His children and He is not responsible to keep His promises to them.

Heavenly Father, how grateful we are for Your endless mercy to us, Your children, and that we can come to You with our petitions and You hear us and supply our every need. We ask that You will use us as Your witnesses, so that those who are not Your children will see the Light and join Your family so they can receive Your promises too. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

GROW IN GRACE

2 Peter 3:18

"But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be glory both now and forever." NIV

"But grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen." KJV

When a child is born we expect that it will grow and develop reaching the normal milestones of size and ability until it reaches adulthood. If this child failed to grow and develop in some way, we would be seeking to find the reason and get the help necessary to resolve the problem. Why then, are there so many Christians who are not maturing and those around them don't seem to be concerned? Growing spiritually is more important than physically because the spirit is eternal.

Heavenly Father, help us to examine ourselves and reveal to us where we are not growing and maturing as Your children. Help us to discern in other Christians when they are having a spiritual problem and use us to speak to them Your truth. We pray this humbly in Jesus' name, Amen.

TEMPORARY VS ETERNAL

2 Corinthians 4:18

"So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." NIV

While we look not at the things that are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal." KJV

We were created physically to experience our world through our five senses that send information to our brains. How can we not be constantly distracted by what is going on around us? Well, our Creator, the Lord God Almighty, also created each of us with a spirit. When we are spiritually made alive by faith in Him, we are able to see beyond what our senses tell us and see the eternal things of God.

Heavenly Father, we stand in need of your grace and mercy to rise above the things of this temporary world and keep our eyes on the things of God that are eternal. Help us we pray in Jesus' name, Amen.

GO TO HIM

Matthew 11:28

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." NIV

"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." KJV

When our vehicles run out of gas, we go to the gas station to fill the tank. When we are hungry we go to where there is food to eat. Likewise, when we are spiritually and emotionally tired and worn out, we go to Jesus our Lord. He is the only One who can give us rest for our souls and refreshment in our spirits so we can continue on strong in faith through this life.

Heavenly Father, we never seem to forget where to go when we need gas for our cars or when we need food for our stomachs, but we fail to come to You when our spirits are weary. Give us wisdom and discernment to know when we need to come to You for refreshment and rest for our souls. In Jesus' name, Amen.

JOYFUL, PATIENT, AND PRAYERFUL

Romans 12:12

"Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer." NIV

"Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation, continuing instant in prayer." KJV

There are many references in the Word of God about staying focused on God and His eternal kingdom. It must be critically important for us to rise above this earth life that is filled with problems and pain. If we remain joyfully hopeful no matter what we are going through here on earth, we will be at peace as we wait for His kingdom to come.

Heavenly Father, forgive us for not being patient and faithful with joy and for letting the trials of this world consume our attention. Help us to focus on Your kingdom patiently and with joy, praying daily for Your return. In Jesus' name, Amen.

KEEP YOUR EYES ON HIM

Read Matthew 14: 22-33

Matthew 14:30

"But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out,'Lord, save me!'" NIV

"But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me." KJV

When we keep our eyes on the Lord, we are better able to overcome the adversities of this life. With our eyes on Him, we stay strong in faith and assurance that He is with us and will take care of us. But, we have a tendency to take our eyes off Him and look at the problems that are around us and we become overwhelmed. Then we lose heart and cry out for God to help us. He is always right here for us. We just need to focus on His, not the battles and challenges going on in our lives.

Heavenly Father, please forgive us for letting our faith falter so that we focus on the problems and battles going on in our lives. Help us to use the faith You have so graciously given each of us so that we can keep our eyes on You and experience the peace of knowing You have everything in control and You will always be right here with us. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
