OUR LOG, THEIR SPLINTER

If we are spiritually attuned to the Lord at all, it doesn't
take but a quick glance in the mirror to see that we have
need of drastic spiritual surgery to remove the huge "log"
out of our own eyes. When we get that taken care of, only
then are we able to humbly and lovingly help another get
that little splinter out of another's eye. We must always
see our own sins and shortcomings as greater than the
same sins and shortcomings in others. And, we need to
remember where we once were when a humble and loving
soul helped us with our splinter.


Heavenly Father, we ask for your grace and love when we
come across others that we feel need to be corrected and
set straight. Help us to examine ourselves so that we get
the log out of our own eye. We pray this in the name of
Jesus.


Read Matthew 7:3-5


"Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's
eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How
can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck our of
your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye?
You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and
then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your
brother's eye." (NIV)


"And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's
eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the
mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own
eye? Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine
own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the
mote out of thy brother's eye." (KJV)
