ROOTS, FRUIT, AND PRAYER

Matthew 6:6

"But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you." ESV

The root of the tree produces the large and fruitful branches that are seen by everyone. But the root itself is not seen at all. That is how our prayer life should be. The deeper and more widespread the root, the more lofty and fruitful the tree. How can we get our prayer lives like deep and widespread roots? Not by praying from the lips or from memory, but from the soul.

Heavenly Father, our prayer lives are so inadequate. Give us a burning desire to spend time alone with You in prayer so that we will have deep and widespread communion with You and be able to see the wonderful fruit that is born out of our prayers. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
