Luke
5:1
"One day as
Jesus was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret, the people were crowding around
him and listening to the word of God. He saw at the water's edge two boats, left
there by the fishermen, who were washing their nets." NIV
"And it came
to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood
by the Lake of Gennesaret, and saw two ships standing by the lake: but the
fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets."
KJV
Jesus had such a
way about Him that crowds of people pressed in on Him to hear what He had to
say. They had crowded Him right up to the water's edge. He did not get upset or
anxious. He simply took note of what was available and made an effortless
decision to get into the boat that was sitting there empty. Jesus showed us that
if we are people of prayer and the Word of God, we will be able to make good
decisions regardless of what's going on around us. We can be in the most
tumultuous and stressful of times and still think on our feet.
Heavenly Father,
we stand in need of Your wisdom to make decisions in difficult times. Help us to
hunger for Your Word and for more prayer so that we will be ready to make tough
decisions when things are chaotic all around us. We pray this in Jesus' name,
Amen.
