2 Corinthians
10:5
"We demolish
arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God,
and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ."
NIV
"Casting
down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the
knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of
Christ." KJV
Aren't we all
familiar with those nagging, negative thoughts that make us worry and fret? It
seems like those thoughts just keep going around and around in our heads to keep
us from having any peace. Those thoughts are from the enemy, who wants us to be
fearful, to question the truth, and to question God. If we will remember that we
have the authority to take these thoughts, bind them up, and take them to
Christ, He will take them and exchange them for peace and contentment. If we let
these thoughts get the best of us, we will be on edge, anxious, and mistrusting
of God and man.
Heavenly Father,
forgive us for allowing the enemy to place thoughts in our heads that create
doubt and fear. Help us to use the authority You have given us through the name
of Christ, to take those thoughts captive and bring them to You. And we thank
You for the peace and joy You bring to us for doing so. In Jesus' precious name
we pray, Amen.
