Luke
6:28
"Bless those
who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you."NIV
"Bless them
that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use
you."KJV
But Lord, are we
supposed to just roll over and let people walk all over us and never stand up
for ourselves? No. We can walk away and see them for what they are: people
trapped in the stronghold of aggression, anger, and hatred. However, we are to
pray for them and return good for evil. It takes a mature Christian to do that.
To mature as a Christian we are praying without ceasing and staying in the Word
whenever we can.
Heavenly Father,
forgive us for responding to abusive people with the same attitude they have. It
is so hard to stay strong when we are being abused and treated wrongly. Fill us
with Your Holy Spirit that we might always respond with the fruit of the Spirit
and overcome evil with good. In Jesus' name, Amen.

After a short while, it's empowering to be able to pray for those who try to tear you down. Humbling, but empowering, somehow.
Thanks for the post.
