SEEK TO BE MEEK

Matthew 5:5

"Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth." NIV

"Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth." KJV

To be meek is not to be weak. It takes a tremendous amount of self-control and dedication to Godliness to be a meek individual. It is submitting authority of our own lives over to God. In fact, it is all our power and freedom to think, feel, speak, and act willfully submitted under God's control. If we are willing to be meek, we will know complete peace of mind and be heirs of all good things to come.

Heavenly Father, we find it difficult to hand over control of ourselves to someone else. Help us to use our faith in You to be able to make that step toward meekness and submit ourselves totally to You. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

How true, especially for Westerners. We have been raised to be in control -- of ourselves and even of others. It is indeed difficult to let go of all that.
