CONCEIVED AGAIN

1 Peter 1:23

"For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God." NIV

"Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever." KJV

Can we really fathom the power and love of God? We were physically conceived by the uniting of the female egg and the male sperm. However, spiritually, we were conceived by the very Word of God, that same Word that spoke the whole creation into existence.

Heavenly Father, how unfathomable are your ways and your power. Our conception into the Your Kingdom is only accomplished by your Word through faith in Jesus Christ. Help us to seek after this amazing power and love, so that we will be more like you, in Jesus' name, Amen.

NOT ONE GOOD PERSON

Romans 3:12

"All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one." NIV

"They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one." KJV

It is very humbling to know our God looked at all of mankind and could not find one person who was good. All of us are in the same boat. We all fail and exalt ourselves at one time or another. Left to our own ways of living as we think are right, we will be found in the sludge pile of human degradation. The Gospel presents us with the way out of of this doomed mess and with the assurance of eternal life.

Heavenly Father, how humbling it is to know that no one is good enough, we all fall far short of the righteousness needed to dwell with you. We can never repay you for the sacrifice you made by sending your Son to cover our worthlessness and render us worthy to be called your children. Help us to always live in that humbleness, that it is not our righteousness but His that makes us worthy. In Jesus' name, Amen.

BROKEN AND HUMBLED

Psalm 51:17

"The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise." NIV

"The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise." KJV

We really learn the true meaning of sacrifice and worship when we have been completely beaten down by the world and our heart has no where to be mended except at the feet of Jesus Christ. If we never feel the desperate need for the grace and mercy of God, it is probably because we have never truly examined ourselves and been keenly aware of our need for a saviour.

Heavenly Father, we asked that you will examine our hearts and open our eyes to the truth about our conditions. Forgive us for accepting shortcomings and continuing on with them until we become satisfied with the life of an impaired Christian. We trust that you will bring us to where we need to be. In Jesus' name, Amen.

FORGOT GOD

Hosea 13:6

"When I fed them, they were satisfied, they became proud; then they forgot Me." NIV

"According to their pasture, so were they filled; they were filled, and their heart was exalted; therefore have they forgotten me." KJV

Are we like the children of Israel? When we get into desperate circumstances and we are helpless, we call on God for help. Even the Godless do this. In His infinite love and mercy He supplies in extraordinary ways and blesses us more than we could imagine. In our satisfied, content situation, we forget from where we came and what the Lord has done for us. That is, we forget until we get into a desperate circumstance and become helpless. Then we remember and cry out to Him again. Earthly contentment is a breeding ground for pride. Pride always puts itself ahead of God. That's why we are warned again and again about pride.

Heavenly Father, how patient and long suffering is your love toward us. We don't deserve the grace you show us day after day, but you continue to give it out because of your Son, Jesus Christ. Forgive us Lord, when we take advantage of your great love by forgetting to put you first when things are going well for us. Help us to remember that we always need you no matter what our circumstances are. Without you we can do nothing. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen

NARROW VS WIDE

Matthew 7:14

"But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it." NIV

"Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it." KJV

When we set out for a journey, we make sure we can take interstate highways because they are the way of least resistance in traveling to our destination. It is the opposite with our spiritual journey. The ways of least resistance, the shorter, easier routes will take us to destruction. The only way we will make it to eternal life with Jesus Christ our Lord, is the narrow, difficult trail that requires us to die to ourselves and live for Him.

Heavenly Father, the wide easy road is so inviting and so many people around us are traveling on that interstate. Please help us to keep the armor of God firmly on so that we will not be drawn into that practical but deadly way. You have given us everything we need to travel that narrow and lonely road because You have already walked it ahead of us. By your grace we will trust you as we travel this road. In Jesus' name, Amen.

SING FOR JOY

Psalm 92:4

"For you make me glad by your deeds, O Lord; I sing for joy at the works of your hands." NIV

"For thou, LORD, hast made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands." KJV

Watching the Lord work through lives and circumstances brings joy to the hearts of those whose faith is in Him. Our Lord is moving all around us, working out His age old plan. There are some who do not see His work because their faith has been covered with worry and preoccupation with their own personal situations. They are without the joy of the Lord. All that is needed is for them to pray for open hearts and spiritual eyes to see and believe God will work out their problems for them in His way and His time.

Heavenly Father, we thank you and praise you that you are working your mighty plan that will result in your eternal glory and our eternal life with you. Help us to remember that the joy you bring us is our strength. In Jesus' name, Amen.

WITH CONFIDENCE

Hebrews 4:16

"Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need." NIV

"Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need." KJV

Without confidence: God, why are you not doing something? How can You let this continue? This is more than I can bear. Why me, Lord? Don't You hear me, Lord? How long will You let me suffer? Lord why don't you rescue me?

With Confidence: Lord, You have laid out Your plan. No matter what comes my way, Lord, I know You are in control. Lord, You will take care of all my needs. Lord, I will wait for You with a joyful heart because You count me worthy to be Your child. All things will be accomplished according to Your will.

Heavenly Father, forgive us when we come before you without confidence. It only shows that we are focused on our own selfish agendas. Help us to always come into Your presence with confidence that You are the all knowing, all powerful, ever present God. In Jesus' name, Amen

GOD'S EYES

1 Samuel 16:7

"But the Lord said to Samuel, 'Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.'" NIV

"But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart." KJV

We all know those times when we feel the Lord has rejected us, not heard us, nor considered our situation. It is those times that we have failed to see with God's eyes and have only looked at things through our own wants and needs. When we truly desire to see circumstances through His eyes, all things begin to make sense. Then, we can rejoice that God has chosen things to be this way to strengthen us and make us more like Him.

Heavenly Father, how short we fall when we look at things from our own perspectives and we don't consider Your ways and how You are looking at things. Help us to always look through Your eyes so that we don't miss Your wonderful works and Your blessings. In Jesus' name, Amen.

BOASTING

2 Corinthians 10:17

"But let him who boasts boast in the Lord." NIV

"But he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord." KJV

Any work we do for the Lord is part of a series of works that will result in God's glory and the saving of souls. It is always a joy to know we have been used by God in His work. If we take credit for the work or for being selected by God to do the work, we rob God of His glory. We can claim the victory and give credit to God, counting ourselves blessed to be among the redeemed.

Heavenly Father, we are always honored and amazed when you do your work through us. Forgive us when we get caught up in the glory of the work we did and fail to give the glory to you. You are the one who gives the power and ability to us to be conduits for you. Help us to always give you the glory that is yours. In Jesus' name, Amen

SUFFICIENT GRACE

2 Corinthians 12:9

"But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.'" NIV

"And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me." KJV

Why do we seek God's deliverance from seemingly unbearable circumstances in which we are living? Do we not yet understand that it is only through these trials and barren seasons that the Lord pours out His power on us to shine as lights in this dark world? If we are lavished by grace with God's holy power because we have no strength of our own, we can rejoice as we cling more fully at His feet. We are not only blessed by His power and grace in our tribulations, but we are shining lights that illuminate the way for the lost and weary.

Heavenly Father, forgive us for our complaining and bucking against the difficult things that come against us in this world. Give us eyes to see, ears to hear, and hearts to understand that it is through these times that your power works greatest through us. In Jesus' name, Amen.

FAITH REPLACED THE LAW

Galatians 3:25

"Now that faith has come, we are no longer under the supervision of the law." NIV

"But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster." KJV

Before Christ gave His life, tearing down the curtain that kept us separated from the throne of God, all we had to guide us was the Law. The Law was of sorts a tour guide to show us how to stay on the narrow road to God. But Christ's death and resurrection made reliance on the law unnecessary because a direct and open relationship with God Almighty was made available. Now we live under the law of Love. Since there are no limits or boundaries to love, we are free to live in the boundless love of Christ.

Heavenly Father, there is no way to ever repay the great gift of Love you gave us except to give you our hearts and lives to live in that marvelous Love and bring others to share in it with us. In Jesus' name, Amen.

LOVE COVERS ALL

Colossians 3:14

"And over these virtues, put on love, which binds them all." NIV

"And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness." KJV

Really, the only spiritual clothing we need to wear is love. It covers everything. It protects us and makes us effective for God's kingdom. Love will cause all the Godly virtues and spiritual fruit to naturally emanate from us. God is love; therefore, we will be putting on Christ. We will look like Him. Love ties us all together with our Saviour.

Heavenly Father, how we need to put on Christ and His love in this world that does not know love. We give you all the glory for Your great Gift to us and we pray that we will wear Your love in humility and faith at all times. In Jesus' name, Amen

BRAND NEW

2 Corinthians 5:17

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come." NIV

"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." KJV

Remember creation is making something from nothing. When we unite ourselves with Jesus Christ, we are no longer the people we used to be. It will be obvious not only to us privately, but to everyone who knows us. We won't be anything like we were before. We will think, act, understand, and live differently. He gives us a fresh start, a clean slate. Our old lives were doomed to eternal death and suffering. Our new lives have entered into eternal life through Him who made us new.

Heavenly Father, give us spiritual eyes to see the marvelous creation you have completed in those of us who have accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour. We ask in Jesus' name, Amen.

STAY TUNED

Isaiah 26:3

"You will keep in perfect peace, him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you." NIV

"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee." KJV

It doesn't come naturally, keeping our minds on God and the things of God. But our minds do tend to stay connected to the things we value the most. Frequently making our connection with God through faith by the Holy Spirit allows us to be "God minded" on an ongoing basis. We will know by the peace we experience if our minds are directed toward Him.

Heavenly Father, it is difficult to keep our minds on You in this turbulent world, but you have given us all we need to keep our minds focused on You. Help us to stay tuned in to You and Your ways, not just so that we can have peace, but because You are worthy of our attention. In Jesus' name, Amen.

WHAT IS FOLLOWING ME?

Psalm 23:6

"Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever." NIV

"Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever." KJV

To follow means to come after, move along behind in the same direction. Would it not be reasonable to say that goodness and mercy will be following along behind us as evidence that we are God's children? And, we are blessed in knowing His love and beauty are following us wherever we are. We will live like this for eternity if we stand firm to the end of this life.

Heavenly Father, how blessed we are that your goodness and mercy follow after us and along with us. We pray that we will always bring honor to your name for you are worthy, the only One worthy, in Jesus' name, Amen

LIVE LIKE IT

James 2:12

"Speak and act as those who are going to be judged by the law that gives freedom." NIV

"So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty." KJV

The reality of God's judgment is not a popular one, and we hear less about this truth than we do other truths of our God. Regardless, we will be judged and it will be by the most important law given by God Almighty, that is, the law of love. If we are going to be judged by that law, we had better be talking and doing those things consistent with that law. In so doing, we will be set free, because there is no law that restricts love.

Heavenly Father, sometimes we get so wrapped up in the circumstances of this world, we forget that we will be held accountable for our words and actions. Help us to live by the law of love, that gives us total freedom, because there are no laws that can stop it, limit it, or cause it to have to go underground. What an awesome God of love you are! SOMETHING OUT OF NOTHING

Hebrews 11:3

"By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God's command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible." NIV

"Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear." KJV

Do we ever take the time to think about what an awesome and powerful gift our faith is? More importantly, we seldom stop to realize that since the creation of the world, not one thing has been created. New forms and combinations of existing materials have been made, but the components were already in existence. When God created the heavens, the earth, and everything contained therein, He made it all from nothing but His spoken words"Let there be," and their was. He lavished us with faith to know this magnificent truth.

Heavenly Father, how blessed we are to serve the God who made all things by speaking them into existence. This same power you have made available to us through the gift of faith. Help us to always be aware of this awesome gift and keep the fire of our faith burning. In Jesus' name. Amen.

WAITING NOT WANTING

Psalm 130:6

"My soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning, more than watchmen wait for the morning." NIV

"My soul waiteth for the Lord more than they that watch for the morning: I say, more than they that watch for the morning." KJV

If Jesus were here walking the earth in His ministry as He did 2000 years ago, would you and I be running after Him so that He could fulfill our needs like the crowds of people did then? Or would we wait for Him, seeking to be near Him, in His presence, basking in the love that flows from Him like a great river? If we do the latter, we will find Him close by and all our needs will be satisfied.

Heavenly Father, forgive us for those times we seek after you to take care of us and answer our petitions. Help us, Lord, to wait, to watch, and to listen, so that we will be blessed by your presence and changed by the power of your love. In Jesus' name, Amen.

NEW CLOTHES

Colossians 3:12

"Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience." NIV

"Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering." KJV

A lot can be revealed about us by the clothes we wear. We tend to judge people and place them into groups by what they are wearing. There is always a choice about what we wear in our inner selves, like our attitudes, thoughts, and demeanors. We do wear these things every day and every hour. We will be identified as belonging to the Bride of Christ if we are wearing the holy garments of the Spirit. We wear them because we belong to Him and He gave us these new clothes at a great price so that our shame would be seen no more.

Heavenly Father, there is nothing we can give you to repay the wonderful gifts you have freely given us. We ask you for your grace and mercy to wear the clothes of the Holy Spirit so that others will be drawn to our Lord Jesus Christ. In His name we pray, Amen.

LUKEWARM

Revelation 3:15,16

"I know your deeds that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other. So, because you are lukewarm-neither hot nor cold--I am about to spit you out of my mouth." NIV

"I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou were cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth." KJV

Jesus Christ is the only one who walked through this life with no sin. The rest of us have sin in us. Some of us have the Holy Spirit in us as well. He does not abide well with sin, so there is always a conflict in us. We allow the Holy Spirit or sin to be greater. It is when we give them equal reign we become lukewarm. We have not made the decision and commitment that gets us off the fence. To the Lord, it is he same as if we have rejected Him and we will be cast away with the ungodly. Which one reins in our lives?

Heavenly Father, you have told us in your Word that we cannot serve two masters. You are God Almighty in our life or our own selfish natures are our god. We pray Lord for being able to make that commitment that makes us hot, fervent, and committed to you forever to you as your humble children. In Jesus' name, Amen.

NO COMPLAINING

Philippians 2:14

"Do everything without complaining or arguing." NIV

"Do all things without murmurings and disputings." KJV

Complaining and arguing are roadblocks to achieving spiritual maturity. Recall the children of Israel who trekked through the wilderness for forty years. Although God brought them eventually to the promised land, they suffered much, lost much, and took many side roads because they grumbled and complained. If we keep in mind why we are here, what we are to be doing, and where we are going, we will have no time or reason to complain. We need only look ahead to Him who is waiting for us.

Heavenly Father, for the times we have grumbled and complained about the things in our lives that brought us discomfort and burdens, we ask your forgiveness. We know that we are only strangers passing through this cursed world and our purpose is to bring as many souls to You as we can. We pray for hearts of gratitude even in the difficult times, in Jesus' name, Amen

GOD'S TEMPLE

Ephesians 2:22

"And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by His Spirit." NIV

"In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit." KJV

We are united with other believers by the Holy Spirit that dwells in us. We become a body, a holy dwelling place where God dwells and brings His plan to fruition. If we could see this spiritual temple of God made up of all who believe in Jesus Christ, we would stand amazed at the power and glory He has poured out on us to do His will.

Heavenly Father, we ask that you will help us to be aware and equipped as part of your temple to do your will and to be conduits of your power. We pray in Jesus' name. Amen

A DIFFERENT WAR

2 Corinthians 10:3

"For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does." NIV

"For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh." KJV

Every day of our lives, we are in a spiritual warfare. Though earthly people and things come against us, we do not fight them as the world does. As Christians we use the power of the truth and Godly wisdom to bring about the Holy Spirit's conviction on the consciences of unbelievers. The strongholds there are deception, human reasoning, pride, and greed. The natural disasters and dangers of this world we fight by faith in God Almighty to spare us or bring us into His presence. We have these spiritual weapons to give us total victory in our Lord who went before us.

Heavenly Father, help us to recognize that we fight a different battle than the world does. Give us discernment to know when there are spiritual strongholds and what we need to do to destroy them. We ask this in Jesus' name. Amen.

TRAINING FOR THE PRIZE

1 Corinthians 9:25

"Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever." NIV

"And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible." KJV

Have you ever seen an Olympic hopeful train for the games? Hours every day are spent in perfecting the necessary physical moves and sharpening concentration on perfection. In time, that body will deteriorate and that gold medal will perish. As Christians, how much more should we be training for that eternal reward in heaven. If we train every day in the Word, praying, walking in the Spirit, and putting on the mind of Christ, we will endure to the end and win the ultimate prize of sitting at His feet forever.

Heavenly Father, how thankful we are that you have given us everything we need to win the prize of eternal life. Help us to be diligent as we go through our lives so that when we see you face to face we will hear "well done good and faithful servant." In Jesus' name, Amen

ANOTHER LAW

Romans 7:23

". . . but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members." NIV

"But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members." KJV

There are two laws in conflict within us all the time. God's law, which is His Spirit guiding us into truth, and the law of sin which seeks to satisfy our physical senses and desires. If we do nothing with this conflict, our natural desires will automatically have precedence. If we allow the Holy Spirit to guide us, we will not give in to the human nature in us, but to the living Spirit of God in us.

Heavenly Father, how we need your grace and mercy as we live in this world with the conflict so active in the spiritual realm. We thank you for your loving faithfulness to us so that we can have all we need to allow the Holy Spirit to rule in our hearts. We pray in Jesus' name, Amen.

DELIGHT AND DESIRE

Psalm 40:8

"I desire to do your will, O my God; your law is written in my heart." NIV

"I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart." KJV

If we are "doing" things for God and we receive anything but delight, is is unlikely that we are doing anything for Him at all. Often we do things because it gives us a great deal of satisfaction or we feel obligated. That is not serving the Lord at all, but it is serving our own needs. Doing Godly things because we know we're supposed to is living by the law. Doing God's will from a pure and willing heart brings delight to our souls no matter how difficult His will is for us. It is knowing God is pleased that brings us joy.

Heavenly Father, we ask your forgiveness for the times we do things for you that bring us attention from others, or fulfill an obligation, or that make us feel good about ourselves. Give us pure and willing hearts to serve you because you are worthy of all we have to give. We pray this in Jesus' name. Amen

CREATED BY HIM AND FOR HIM

Colossians 1:16

"For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him." NIV

"For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him." KJV

Jesus Christ is the creator of all things that exist. He created by Himself and for Himself. There was no other force to encourage or motivate Him. The universe and all things known and unknown were made by an eternal, unlimited, uncreated God. Jesus
Christ is truly God. It is this Jesus Christ, Creator of all things, who set aside His place as God, humbled Himself and became a man so that He would be the sinless sacrifice for our sins. How much more should we humble ourselves in service to Him?

Heavenly Father, we are not capable of fully knowing the greatness of Your power and majesty. Neither can we realize the tremendous sacrifice You made for us. We praise You and worship You, Lord, and we humbly ask that we will walk pleasing in Your sight through obedience. In Jesus' name. Amen

PRIDE

Obadiah 1:4

"Though you soar like the eagle and make your nest among the stars, from there I will bring you down, declares the Lord." NIV

"Though thou exalt thyself as the eagle, and though thou set thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith the Lord." KJV

Some Christians have fallen into a deception believing that if we have material blessings we are being favored and blessed by God. And, if we are struggling and having hard times, God is punishing us. God's favor and disfavor are not measured by material things and successes. In fact, those who are rich and successful tend to get focused on material things and become proud of their own achievements. The Word tells us that pride comes before a fall. And we can fall from any level. The more God blesses us, the more we must walk in humility. If we don't, God will bring us down and humble us.

Heavenly Father, we are aware that we are guilty of being proud and take credit for the many things we have accomplished. Forgive us Lord, and help us to remember from where our help comes. We pray and seek you in humility that we may know you and learn to be more like you. In Jesus' name, Amen.
