Sincerity is being genuine, pure, free of any deceit or falseness.
On the other hand, we are to hate evil. Hate is intense, extreme
aversion for something. We are to destroy evil that comes near us with the help of the Lord and then stay close to those things that are good.
Heavenly Father, we ask that you help us to love with sincere hearts and to stand ready to defeat the evil that runs rampant in our world. Help us to cling to all that is good, in Jesus' name.
Read Romans 12:9
"Love must be sincere. Hate what Is evil; cling to what is good." (NIV)
"Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good." (KJV)

One of the first things I noticed almost immediately after God saved me was my hatred for the "evil" all around me.
ReplyDeleteSecondly God started making me aware of the "evil" still within me and how much grace and mercy I needed for my many sins and failures.
Thirty years later I've discovered that there is very little I can do about what I perceive as the "evil" around me, but by the power of the Holy Spirit and God's word I can work on my own character and the "evil' within me.
What openness to God, Ron. As long as you keep that Spirit and attitude you will be like Him. God bless.
ReplyDeleteI hear the "potically correct" says "hate" & "evil" are such strong words", so they just use other words to say what they feel in their heart. Like not saying the "word" changes the fact that a monkey in a suit is still a monkey. Galatians 5:17 makes it clear that the flesh and the Spirit will always battle within us, but battle we must in the process of growing, improving and maturing into the likeness of our Lord Jesus Christ. May we walk in the Spirit and fight evil daily.
